🤯 Roblox REMOVES classic faces, UGC creators are going bankrupt, and artists are losing jobs! This is the main narrative around the recent Marketplace Policy for Heads update – and it's FALSE❗️ Most tweets and DevForum posts I've seen on this are highly misinterpreted and misleading, and I'd like to debunk them: Firstly, classic faces (including their value) aren't just disappearing – they're being migrated or updated, as you could say, into fully animatable dynamic heads while maintaining the same aesthetics. So, you're not losing your spent Robux or items. Moreover, you're getting a free upgrade. Secondly, UGC creators are given a time period to update their currently selling static faces and heads with dynamic heads. If this is done the same as with Shoes previously uploaded as Pants, sales traffic will be maintained after the items are updated. Thirdly, artists that built careers on drawing static faces will still be in demand, but instead of drawing for a plain static mesh texture, they will be required to draw over a more detailed animatable model. It's a small adjustment, but nothing critical that'd completely kill your skill. Why is Roblox doing this? From my perspective, static heads and classic faces have been a huge bottleneck for new innovative features like makeup, in-game facial animations, voice chat, etc. Though I do oppose a lot of Roblox's recent decisions and features, this is not one of them, and I think the community's reaction to it is way blown out of proportion. PLEASE READ AND SPEAK UP! Roblox just announced a new policy that forces all avatar heads to support animated facial expressions, and they’re applying it to existing heads too, not just new ones. This is a really bad decision, and the impact this will have on creators is being ignored. A huge number of creators earn their income from static or 2D-style heads that were approved and sold under the old rules. Now we’re being told to redo insanely large amounts of existing work or those items will be taken off sale and eventually removed for good. That is not realistic for most creators. For many people, this isn’t just a hobby. This is rent money. This is food. This is their main source of income. If Roblox wants to move toward animated heads, that’s fine, but it should apply to new uploads only. Changing the rules overnight and threatening existing items is unfair. The best selling heads on the catalog are mostly static or 2D-style for a reason. That’s what players actually want. Forcing creators to switch to something the community has avoided does not increase expression, it limits it. This change is being presented as expanding self expression, but in reality it removes an entire style of expression that players and creators actively use. There is a simple solution here. Leave existing heads alone. Apply the new rules only to new heads. Or create a proper category for static or classic heads. Any of these would allow Roblox to move forward toward animated heads without destroying creator incomes. This feels extremely out of touch. We did make a few tweaks to try to better the economy, as a result of the negative economy the game has had for a while (people having way too much cash and nothing to spend it on, plus high-yield farming methods causing it to inflate). However, upon investigation thanks to your reports, it turns out we actually did tweak it too much by accident, which caused it to break. It genuinely was not supposed to be this low and unobtainable. This is now being corrected and will show in new servers. We will continue to monitor bug reports you send in to see if any further issues come up! We've also fixed the following...
