@cszabla I print whenever I can! Unfortunately, a non-trivial amount of all the nice papers and reports I print meet a similar fate as all the unread open tabs/downloaded pdfs though my sense of unease towards them also has a slightly different flavour.

@MarkusGroll @neos_eu @BMeinl Mit Verlaub aber das ist ein Hirngespinst. Norwegen und Island laufen schon lange mit nahezu 100% Erneuerbaren, nie ist so ein Szenario eingetreten. Absurd die Drohnengefahr bzgl. Erneuerbare zu erwähnen während (im Zuge unserer Unterhaltung) Drohnen gerade Fossile wegbomben.

@Castative @neos_eu @BMeinl Nicht einmal das gilt, fürchte ich. In einem Energiesystem, dass nur auf Elektrizität setzt, ist die Resilienz grundsätzlich eher geringer (1 kleines Blackout - noch ganz ohne Drohnenangriff - und alles steht).

I was in Hong Kong in Feb 2020 and remember this being a very weird time. Investors had been worrying about the US-China trade war under Trump 1.0. Then China effectively shut down most of its economy and markets basically shrugged. Similar vibes right now

Best analogue I can think of for today's market vibe is the period in mid Feb 2020 bf Covid when the news flow was uniformly negative but people weren't selling bc they were bulled up on other themes and were scared of missing the uptrend that was set to resume once Covid faded.

@benbawan While its a net exporter, it does also import, eg from Canada, and not all types of oil can be refined in any refinery, so a considerable amount of US oil has to be shipped for refinement while it also does refinement of importet oil. Much less autarkic than the factoid suggests.

They are mostly opportunists who jumped on the bandwagon as it succeeded, meaning they are hardly constitutive of MAGAs core political energy
