@texasbreakfast1 I had to go to court for truancy when I was a child. My junior year I skipped more than half the days. I was in all AP classes and would only show up for tests. Ace it. Go home. Wish I hadn't done that looking back but don't understand why fine my parents.

Just had a truancy court judge in Marble Falls, TX threaten me with 3 days in jail and fine me $100 for lawfully withdrawing my son from public school the very next day and homeschooling him — something explicitly protected by the Homeschool Freedom Act of 2025.
She demanded proof of a specific “good citizenship” course and claimed I needed court permission to withdraw my own child.
This isn’t about education. It’s about revenue and control. Like so many parents are discovering nationwide, these truancy systems look more like shake-down operations than anything else.
Where exactly is all this fine money going?

Our insurance agent is awesome. He is from an old school Southern family with deep roots in our community. Everyone with his office is so friendly. Within the first five minutes of the phone call, the receptionist had already used the words “precious” and “sweetie.” They already found a Mercedes-approved body shop and are now helping with all of the associated logistics.
A man from the body shop just called and is on the phone with my husband. The man, who is likely from South America, has such a thick accent that we can barely understand him. He is constantly having to repeat himself. He is nice, but the last person I want to deal with after this morning is another foreigner. I want to hear a Southern good ‘old boy who promises to get my car fixed right up — the type of man who is a bit rough around the edges but worth every penny because his love for cars goes back to watching NASCAR with his Daddy.
I hate feeling like a stranger in my own homeland.

I am so done with foreigners and their anchor babies. This morning while taking my daughter to school, I got hit by an Indian teenage girl who didn’t even apologize for running the red light. She was more concerned about the wreck being ruled against her. Did she ask if we were OK? Nope! This happened right near my neighborhood. My husband arrived well before her parents did. When he went to check on her, because that’s what decent human beings do, she said she didn’t like the fact that I was mad at her for running the red light. My brain can’t even comprehend that mindset! Did her parents ask if we were OK when they showed up? Nope! They didn’t even acknowledge our presence. The level of rage I have right now has me shaking. Will she be found at fault? Given that she ran the red light while turning left across the highway and cut into the turn lane, I had a green arrow light, and I had already checked the intersection twice before starting to pull out, I would think so. The girl was flying. She admitted that she “didn’t notice” me given her speed. Am I still worried that her parents will try to scam their way out of paying for damages? Absolutely.

Yes, I left the cart there. Right in the spot. On purpose. And no, I’m not “sorry” about it either. I just spent my money, stood in line forever, dealt with screaming kids and people moving like NPCs, and somehow you expect me to finish the experience by doing unpaid labor? Be serious.
And the way some of you act like returning a cart is some heroic act of moral superiority is actually embarrassing. Congrats, you walked 10 extra steps, do you want a medal or a parade?
If a random cart in a parking lot ruins your day, maybe the problem isn’t me… maybe you’re just way too invested in things that don’t matter.
