Great way to start to season. Thank you to the coaches and student athletes who have trusted me through those wins. It’s been an incredible journey starting both the BenU and NCC program from the ground up. More to come!

On the defensive side. Think it’s a lot easier to define by distance, strong hand, weak hand, roll back, skips etc. again though, tons of variability based on who you’re defending or your defenses strengths/principles. It’s an area I personally haven’t gotten overly established yet

I tend to use them more for constraint purposes vs in a game or overall principle. The terms- a scale of quality shot - is just that and different for every player depending on their individual constraints. So when we use them, we’ll say, hey gold star shots in this drill is xyz, silver etc etc. and using them more to build the proper learning environment and to push towards certain variability. So hey looking for gold star only or gold and bronze but limiting the score of what those are instead of trying to remember a list of 50 different shots and what level they are. I feel ranking them in a competition may shy kids away from experimenting or just getting the job done which is sometimes necessary. I generally find kids know when they’ve taken a bad shot. Tricky one in lac due to all the variability

If your’re using an Ecological dynamics and CLA lens, this is almost an impossible questions to answer imo. There’s an unlimited amount depending on the environment provided. Constraints we use are based off our own groups principles of play. What I love about EcoD is it’s not a drill collection database like information processing. It’s about providing the environment, seeing how the kids play it, then adding constraints to guide them to the principles you’re looking to see by providing proper constraints, letting the skills emerge. Every group, age and team will go about this differently
