@Niner_m you can’t hit the defender with your stick on the follow through. I don’t like the call. There is MAYBE contact. the problem with the call and most wlax rules/calls is they are never called consistently. defenders get hit with worse follow throughs all the time and they let it go

@22classy @jgugs23 OSU paid each grad student 80k a semester. Notre dame did this last year with an attack man for 1 semester. Why is everyone freaking out about lacrosse players making NIL. There are multiple women college sports that athletes make significant more in college.

All in, PSU tuition, housing, books etc is roughly $65k out of state. I don’t know why everyone is so shocked, or so aggressively doubting it, that he might have gotten a $50-100k NIL offer on top of cost of attendance. psu.edu/admission/unde…

They are saying lots of goalies ride the bench until its their time which is true. The part they are leaving out is how in demand Ricciardelli would have been if he jumped in portal after Freshmen Year. #4 Recruit in 2022 won a 🏆 Freshmen Year as a backup. Instead He chose to remain in South Bend and sit for another year behind LE.

Thomas Ricciardelli (Taft-ND) sat on that ND ☘️ Bench for years behind Entenmann. Kid didn’t sniff 👃 the field. He didnt transfer. (could have gone almost anywhere.) Instead he waited his turn. Got better. Learned his craft. Tomorrow he plays for a 💍. #OldSchool

@CaptainTitanic_ @JohnkGK Here’s a good example of the vagueness in these rules. “Played by another player” could mean anyone on either team. What does the “and the ball is cleared” line mean?

@22classy @JohnkGK Found it. They also call the “crease” a “goal circle” which drives me nuts.

Attackers should get green cards for interfering with the women’s goalie in the crease Women’s goalies should not be able to run freely through the crease with the ball!

@22classy @DanLeff4 Didn’t mean to come across argumentative, but less than 10% of D1 lax players enter the portal, and far less from ACC and B10 schools. I think Ricciardelli is awesome, but I just don’t think staying at ND and waiting his turn is anything unique - especially for goalies.

I don’t know when he entered the portal. So if it was for junior and senior year, ~130k total, maybe. If it was for senior year, 1 year, then that’s gotta be tuition + some! But generally I’m not sure why everyone’s doubting that NIL money on top of cost of attendance isn’t happening because it is.

@22classy I think the “$170k” included the tuition. It probably wasn’t an NIL on top of.

@ChasLawler @DanLeff4 Not every D1 player handles it the same way. It’s also becoming less common in the portal era. What’s the dispute here to Dans tweet? I think it’s a great call out.

@DanLeff4 Great for him, but almost every D1 lax player does the same thing. His skills make him unique, but waiting his turn and staying at the same school doesn’t.

You’re welcome. From my experience, I think some media forget as they try and cover championship game, especially close finishes. Then you get media from losing teams in semis put theirs in early. I do think NCAA should have some oversight so someone deserving doesn’t get left off. I feel the men’s lax tournament has had that in my previous experiences. I ran all media operations once for a hockey regional and for that All-Tournament team the NCAA requires votes in by a certain time. Final game went to OT - so while team was set. I determined the MOP of our site based on outcome since it was so even.

She led her team in points in every game of NCAA tournament. Not sure who picked the all tournament team, and no knock to her offensive teammates… and not that she cares But she had 10+ more points then all of them Kind of a surprising move by @NCAALAX …

This was incredible seeing her battle and win draws with a torn ACL.

This No Re Entry rule is a men’s rule. Pretty confident without worrying to check right now it’s not a women’s rule. Here’s what currently happens at all levels of women’s lacrosse: Ball is loose in the crease: -attackers can’t put their sticks into the circle to grab at the ball. CHANGE THIS! -attackers don’t get a card for interfering with the goalie. CHANGE THIS! -goalies and defenders can re enter the crease with the ball, AND often roll the ball into the crease because the attack can’t scoop at it. CHANGE THIS! This stuff creates for less exciting rides and clears and also gives the referees more to officiate. Women’s lacrosse needs to pare down the rules and ambiguity. Make the refs lives easier
