After adding new characters, it turned out that the battle system already worked with 8 party members, with little to no adjustments But the UI would need a few more updates to show all of the info

All characters here are using PaperZD's new skin system. This means they all share the same Animation Source, Animation Blueprint and Character Blueprint. The only thing that is different is the Skin asset, which makes updating things or adding new characters a breeze!

To give you a bit of a behind the scenes look on how I take pictures for these thumbnails and also record my videos. ... It's just an Unreal Engine level that is basically a virtual studio where I place my sprites and props and then fly a camera around🎥

@rbugodi Examples are given assuming people use windows, because that's just what most people do. You should be able to follow along for the most part, but there might be some bugs or small differences somewhere which will require you to do some digging.

After 1 year of work my Unreal Engine 5 JRPG Masterclass is now completed with all 16 chapters and over 37 hours of video footage! I've been keeping this a secret, but over the last 3 months I actually drew 4 additional party members that are included as a little bonus😎

Don't sleep on Data Assets in UE. They allow you to separate your data from your blueprints and gameplay logic, which keeps your project clean and makes it super easy to create variants of objects. Full Tutorial: youtu.be/3PrpLvC5EO8

@MarcDWyz Oh nice, that makes me feel a lot better about my implementation😂 Seems like this the solution we all end up with

@CobraCodeDev Same method I did lol. I don't know much about Niagara at all so maybe the following is still possible but, having the Actors really lets me control the properties well, like updating the sprite displayed and repositioning it under certain conditions.

I've been playing around with sprite trails in Unreal Engine 5. How interested in this are you?

@MarcDWyz Still very primitive. Some in the discord have been experimenting with a niagara based method, but it requires a json with certain information. Right now it's one actor component that spawns a bunch of sprite actors and then just reuses them from a pool.

@LVE_LOBO I haven't used UEFN much, but AFAIK you can't use Paper 2D or PaperZD there, so you'd have to come up with a custom flipbook system using materials which is quite advanced

@CobraCodeDev I was wondering if your courses would teach and be useful with the limitations in UEFN. I’m working on a big project and we are wanted to us 2d animation but are struggling to get it to work. If you could help or explain where we are going wrong that would be very appreciated

Version Control with Unreal Engine has always be a pain due to large file sizes and frequent merge conflicts. Diversion has many great features like auto soft-locking to make your life easier. I made a full tutorial of how to set it up in minutes youtu.be/VnvcMU8AS2w

You may not believe this, but there's actually hundreds of 2D and 2.5D games made with Unreal Engine with the most popular titles reaching millions of players. I took a look at why 2D Unreal Games are now everywhere: youtu.be/6UjGxE2_BA4
