This one thing explains way more in our culture politically, culturally, and ecclesiologically (“with regard to the church”) than anyone probably wants to admit: Until a man (in particular) has kids, he isn’t as emotionally tied to the future of society at a visceral level. When a man has kids, it does something to his energy and produces a desperation to use his strength to ensure a better societal and ecclesiological future for his children and grandchildren to inherit.

I understand Forrest Frank isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea. I wouldn’t put him on my Mount Rushmore of greatest musicians. But he’s my favorite artist. Why? Well, you give me someone else who can have my 8 year old running around the house singing “Jesus is alive!” 🤷‍♂️ Don’t care what anyone says. This dude is helping advance the Kingdom with young people in a major way.

If the deal is we domestic issues solved, but there has to be a war, then it’s not the best deal but it is better than any alternative we have ever had in my entire life. So be it.

Again, I’ve had plenty of issues with the admin’s current foreign policy decisions but you would never ever see another GOP president discuss these realities The Overton window has forever been moved by Trump and whatever his faults that should be appreciated

I think it more a symptom of how much of his audience he’s alienated. Honest question, what’s going on with him? I previously subscribed and found him interesting/compelling and I can barely listen to him anymore. Usually I can pinpoint motive/goals/foundational beliefs…and for Tucker in his current form, I can’t get to any of the three.

I think this is close (and charitable) to what’s actually happening with Tucker. For a period of time I found him interesting and compelling. I now find him completely unfollowable. Like I can’t even stand to watch him speak. And, yes, I think it’s because of all his inconsistencies. Said with force and charisma, with no discernable foundation. Compare him to @jordanbpeterson. Able to articulate a rock solid foundation, while also dealing with the issues du jour, messily but with fidelity to his core beliefs.

Here are my own thoughts on the Tucker phenomenon as I have watched over these last couple of years. I genuinely don’t think Tucker Carlson is intentionally lying. That category is too easy and, frankly, lets the real issue slip by unnoticed. What I see instead is a man who has trained himself to speak often and speak quickly, which means that he is rarely interested in speaking carefully. Over time, that kind of speech forms habits. So, what we see is his words coming out with force, sometimes even with insight, but without the discipline that preserves clarity and continuity. He seems to be the kind of learner who does not labor to build stable categories. You can see this when he speaks of his Bible knowledge; consistency is not the driving concern for Tucker. There is a kind of elasticity to his thought, almost like an ability to adjust, to pivot, to develop politically in real time. And while that can give the appearance of freshness or boldness, it also means that what is said today may not sit comfortably with what was said yesterday. So the issue is not first deception, but formation. Or, as I say, it's a matter of ritualizing speech. When a man is not committed to careful speech, he becomes difficult to follow. His rhetoric can stir people who are already angsty about the present. In other words, his use of uncareful language moves people to such and such conclusion, but it does not build them into a distinct interpretation of reality. And that is where the concern rests, at least for me. Words are not neutral. They are a form of stewardship. If they are not governed or tethered to thoughtful, consistent categories, they may generate a lot of heat but will struggle to provide lasting light. And ultimately, that's where I think Tucker is today: heat, but little light.

Tucker claims the words "could this be the antichrist?" never left his lips. NYT shows a clip of him saying exactly that:

Analogous to the progressive “Christian’s” who like just enough of the faith (and scripture) to affirm their sensitivities while also ensuring that their faith never challenges one of their closely held political views. Which also implies that it never actually costs them anything. It’s just a warm blanket of self assurance.

It doesn't take any moral courage for a shitlib to bash Trump or his daughter Invanka. This plays to one's base. The question is whether a "Stoic" who voted for Joe Biden sought to guide his own side to virtue, and resisted corruption and tyranny when it arouse from within.

@RyanHoliday Wait…people really thought the left wing woke bookstore owner was the right guy for Stoicism? This public meltdown was inevitable. He claims to hold a worldview that cannot coexist with his politics (or better yet, his religion). …Don’t get me started on Ted Lasso. Smh.

Lol. Rolling your eyes at the performative philosophy of a member of the most corrupt family in American history is apparently 'fuming'? Although if there was anything to be mad about these days, I think objecting to people lighting the world on fire so they can make a killing in prediction markets and kickbacks is probably it. yahoo.com/entertainment/…

The Live Free Podcast is the best podcast in America. Change my mind (you can’t). It’s a Christian podcast hosted a pastor (@howertonjosh) that teaches the Bible and shows Christians how to apply a biblical lens to culture and modern day issues. In less than a year, it is ranked in the top 50 of all podcasts on Apple. No ginned up controversy, no conspiracy theories, no public feuds. No paid marketing, no funnels. Just good Bible teaching. 100% organic. I’ve been in this business a long time and the growth trajectory is mind-boggling. When I can’t explain something, I generally just tip my hat to God. If you’re a Christian or curious about Jesus, give it a shot, you won’t regret it: YOUTUBE: youtu.be/4GTZAyWRJdk?si… APPLE: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/liv… Spotify: open.spotify.com/show/353ryGdZN… *disclaimer: no, I’m not Pastor Josh’s brother but I am assisting with social media for the podcast. I still firmly believe this is the best podcast in America.

The people in charge don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus. Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity. Today's Morning Note newsletter covers Masoud Pezeshkian's condemnation of Trump's “desecration of Jesus,” the Iran War's gutting effects on America's housing market, Colombia's plan to murder Pablo Escobar's hippopotami, and more. Mom and stepdad have worked physical jobs for nearly nothing their entire lives. Stepdad took in 7 kids when he met my mom and never accepted child support from my dad. Did whatever he could for us to have a chance at a real life. Took them to dinner Friday night and let them know I would be retiring them very comfortably for the rest of their lives. One of the best moments of my life.
