@arctotherium42 @willsolfiac This is an incorrect reading. Engels wanted to abolish the bourgeois family—the cartel—rather than the nuclear family structure. He wanted to abolish the inheritance and property structure that allowed corporate families (like the Waltons today, for example) to exist.

I'm reading Engels' Condition of the Working Class in England, and it's remarkable how socially conservative he is. - He thinks Irish immigration to English industrial towns drives down wages and degrades the economic and moral condition of the native workers - He is concerned about how factory work inverts traditional gender roles, in that there are more jobs available for women and children than men - He identifies how women working in factories leads to neglect of their children - He identifies how young men and women working together in factories leads to sexual immorality - He notes how English factory workers are almost entirely irreligious and never go to church. It made me think that you could conceptualise socialism as it existed up until the 1970s or so as basically a socially conservative movement to preserve traditional family life in the face of capitalism. E.g. the demand for a male 'family wage' that a husband could support a whole family on.

It's important to read Shakespeare as if in every utterance he means the opposite. If you do so on faith, you'll often find the facts perfectly undergirding this assumption elsewhere. Why? Thirdly, I contend that the King James Bible was the Jamesian project meant to relay the Air and Fire, and the best scribes in world history came together for it. They couldn't make another Bible for the sacrilege, so they tag teamed a folio--of a startlingly similar size to the KJV, by the way, the folio is exactly one play shorter-- of Earth and Water to undergird the KJV and complete the Grecian Global System (Globe Theater? anyone?). The Earth and Water layer of this Greek cosmology is all about appearances vs reality and the dialectical negation (both-sidedness) of every topic. This is precisely Shakespeare's obsession. Or is it Shakespeare? Or is his personality a product of chiastic library sciences and the Earth Water axioms? Well anyways, I'm having a very fun time.
