"Your culture will be a reflection of your consciousness." This quote from my recent conversation with @DianaChapman hits home so hard. Diana is one of the founders of The Conscious Leadership Group (@ConsciousLG) and authors of The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership. What I love about her work is the core of the message. Consciousness is the fundamental input to everything we do. It drives culture. It informs the products we build. It supports or undermines our relationships. It's why working on it so high leverage. Our conversation explores the many facets of the relationship between consciousness and the workplace, including how we can more intentionally be the authors of the cultures we create. Diana likens this to creating the rules of the games we play. This isn't to control things, but rather to encourage ways of being that engender a shared sense of trust, authenticity, and play. This is how we create a drama free workplace. Diana also shares her most recent exploration of new opportunities beyond what she has been focused on at CLG for the past few years. A 10 minute practice that changed my life: "Teach Your Drama Class" from @ConsciousLG Playfully, teach a short "class" on how to create the exact struggle you're currently facing in your life. Give 5 steps that if followed, are almost guaranteed to create that struggle. I first did this practice in 2021 in a coach training program. For me at that time: "How To Be Perpetually Dissatisfied With Your Career 101" Step 1: Pick an existential global problem (climate change for me) and implicitly make yourself solely responsible for solving it. 👆 As I wrote this, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I was telling myself that if climate change wasn't fixed, I wasn't doing enough, and foundationally wasn't enough. I had to keep seeking, keep changing, keep being unhappy until we'd healed our relationship with the natural world. That's not a recipe for great work or a good life. The beauty of this practice is its silliness - being playful allows us to get some separation from the stories we hold so tightly and recognize how we're creating our reality, especially the frustrating parts.
