Importantly, this trial allows us to rigorously test SAINT as a non-drug intervention for postpartum depression and to move closer to a future where mental health care is both more precise and more effective.” Brandon Bentzley, M.D., Ph.D. businesswire.com/news/home/2026…

Stanford just published a beautiful obituary for our dear friend, Dr. Nolan Williams. His pioneering work with neuromodulation and plant medicines transformed countless lives, ushering in a new era of psychiatry focused on true healing. Tomorrow, Nolan's TED talk will go live. It brings me some peace knowing his mission continues, and that more people will learn from his brilliance, bravery, and compassion. I miss him so much. Please keep his family in your hearts. 📸 by Keith Westra med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/…

This TED Talk by @NolanRyWilliams reflects so much of what made him extraordinary. As I share it, I keep thinking about how rare it is for someone like Nolan to come along. Not once in a generation, but once in a century. I miss my dear friend. How ibogaine could treat depression and anxiety (Nolan Williams | TED2025) go.ted.com/Z78ER via @TEDTalks

It is impossible to express what a huge loss is it that Nolan Williams MD is no longer with us. Nolan pioneered novel TMS, psychedelic and other treatments for depression, PTSD & addictions and he was spearheading initiatives that stand to forever change the treatment of mental health around the world. I knew Nolan as my colleague at Stanford Medicine, as a guest on my podcast & I am honored to be able to call him dear friend too. He is survived by two amazing children and his wife Kristin, also a physician at Stanford. Nolan and I spent a lot of time together over the last 2 years, traveling to raise funding & awareness for studies on ibogaine/DMT as a therapy for PTSD and addiction, as well as for his advancements with TMS & still-unannounced combination treatments for the toughest mental health challenges. We loved to talk about data from his and other labs and what still needed to be understood. Often we would reflect on what an incredible thing it is that the formerly siloed communities of academic science, psychiatry, veterans, psychedelic medicine & bipartisan government are coming together around the emerging data with such force and fluidity. Nolan cared deeply about finding ways to bring effective treatments for mental health to everyone who needs them and his work no doubt positively changed the arc of psychiatry and mental health forever. I was blessed to see and hear first-hand from the many veterans and non-veteran lives that Nolan's work had literally saved. I am certain that what Nolan so badly wanted to see happen in the landscape of mental health treatments will continue, but there is simply no replacement for Nolan Williams. He will be dearly missed. Please join me in extending prayers for Nolan’s family and his mental health mission. Photo: Nolan Williams, me, Marcus Lutrell (2024)
