July was a busy month at DAACS! We hosted an excellent group of scholars and friends for a month-long DAACS Summer Institute at Monticello. DAACS staff conducted training for field record digitization and material culture analysis. #daacs #monticello #daacssummerinstitute

We covered everything from small finds, beads, and buckles to bottle glass, tobacco pipes, and ceramics. Thanks to Dr. Lindsay Bloch, we spent a large portion of the month studying and typing coarse earthenwares at each visiting scholar’s site! So many cool sherds!
