@TrungTPhan Gross…the pervasive perfume smell in laundry detergent was so imbued in the bedding and pillow cases on my last two European trips. Please stop making this stuff so smelly…unscented for the win, and sanity.

@lalovestrump Might be fun, until the next Covid begins isolating people again.

@luismbat It’s quite astonishing that we can calculate such a trajectory several years in advance.
Earth will do several orbits around the sun before this flyby and still we can confidently say that a massive rock will fly between us and some of our geostationary satellites.
English

In 2029, Apophis, a ~370m asteroid, will pass just ~31,000 km from Earth.
That’s ~1/10 the distance to the Moon.
Inside the orbit of geostationary satellites.
Visible to the naked eye.
Impact risk this time is low, but the flyby could shift its future trajectory.
A direct hit would mean a ~1 km crater and regional devastation.
That’s why becoming multiplanetary matters.

@LynAldenContact You may appreciate my wife’s writing, as it has the accessible yet layered approach that offers realistic scenes and dialogue: Francesgreenslade.com.

The truth behind this is that I studied fiction prose quite extensively, since I knew that was my weakness ahead of time (relative to story, characters, etc). I'm an engineer/financier, not an English major.
So I focused heavily to turn that weakness into a strength. 🧵

@Crypto_Mags @LynAldenContact I just started reading it yesterday and her writing style already caught my attention. And as a regular reader of her macro newsletter, I did wonder how that would translate with fiction. But Lyn is clearly just as talented here as she is with everything she puts her name to.

@BethanyCherisse It correlates to how much I fold open my blinders each day. When I was woke, pre covid, my blinders were tightly controlled and kept me in the “boiling frog” state of mind. Those days are gone for me, and I cannot unsee so much anymore…unlike so many blissfully ignorant folks.

“The federal government has come up with almost $26 billion for Ukraine since Russia launched its invasion in 2022, a conflict that has stretched on for nearly 1,500 days now.” SOURCE: $51M more for Ukraine castanet.net/news/Canada/60…
I don’t mind helping, but that is just way too much. And given widespread UNACCOUNTABILITY at the highest levels of both governments, we should be questioning…Can we get an accurate account of where these funds actually ended up?

@JM_speakss Would have done the same, but my home equity is trapped by my wife’s EDS and firm desire to save the house for our adult son! Unless we separate, I also still carry 30k debt in my semi-retirement 😞
English

I first bought Bitcoin in 2019 at $7.5K.
$100. Nothing serious.
Then bought a little more at $17K in 2020.
Finally I went full psycho in 2021 at $40K.
Sold almost every rental property I owned just to buy more.
DCAd biweekly for years.
I’ve bought all the way up to 60k.
I’ve bought all the way back down to 16k.
I’ve bought all the way back up to 120k.
And now I’ve bought all the way back down to 60k.
In Canada, you have to refinance your house every 3-5 years. You’re not locked into an interest rate for 30 years like you are in the states.
My refinance is coming up at the end of this year again…
Sure the rates might be a bit higher and there might be some more pressure.
But my decision?
Already made.
What do you think I’m about to do with the equity?

Broaching age 60 and still failing…tired of beating myself up, so I’ve accepted my journey through obscurity. I now live vicariously through the tremendous efforts of Musk and his supporters. It’s too late for many of us to participate fully anymore. Sad but true this imbalance. Maybe my next life cycle will see my efforts pay accordingly!

The solution to so many of life’s problems is to just keep going.
English

Same, but worse, because it’s now systemic amongst the most powerful, and they propagate propaganda relentlessly. The way Musk’s efforts have been ignored or his person vilified is a modern tragedy. Good people are trying to elevate humanity, but they keep getting stymied by these powerful grifters!

@nyuryokuya Yes, I see you 🫣 Beware the toxic aspects of the masses on Western social media. Shields up Captain!!
English

On a serious note - Electric vehicles cause far more road wear and tear than internal combustion engine cars. This is because they are considerably heavier due to the batteries than their ICE equivalents. Electric vehicles also produce more toxic particulates in the air due to heavier wear on the road surface , tyres and breaking system - again due to the extra weight. So much for EVs reducing city street air pollution - they don’t.
Andrew Bridgen@ABridgen
A great typically British take on the state of our roads. Very funny but sadly true. Where is all of the tax money going ? Not on repairing potholes that’s for sure. Please share

I made my first Tesla-related post on 𝕏 exactly 10 years ago today - the day the Model 3 was unveiled.

The mainstream media's total blackout on the Japan-America Lovefest on X is interesting isn't it
Over the weekend, something genuinely beautiful and barrier-shattering unfolded between ordinary Japanese and American X users after the rollout of a major Grok powered auto-translation feature combined with algorithm tweaks.
Two tribes of humans separated by language and distance and.. history, just talked directly to each other in whimsical ways, shared countless pictures of BBQ meats and muscle cars, and co-created anime memes reflecting their newly formed bond.
It was raw, it was real, and it was super wholesome. There was so much curiosity about the other. I saw a really respectful debate about Shinto theology versus Christianity, a viral post about fart nomenclature, treatises on why American culture and gun culture can't be separated, tips on what meat cuts to use for BBQing and how to make marinade, and the shared bonding that comes with the realization that "hey… your crazies sound and look exactly like our crazies.”
Liberals love to preach about the sacred importance of “connecting” - building bridges, fostering dialogue, and embracing cross-cultural understanding.
Well, here it was on X - a genuine, organic, bottom-up explosion of goodwill between ordinary Japanese and American citizens. This was human connection above borders and it's exactly what every self-proclaimed progressive claims to live for.
And yet, when it finally happened, apart from @PirateWires and @TheBabylonBee, there's been a total media black hole about this.
Which is maybe excusable if they didn't actually spend WEEKS covering "chinamaxxing" as a social media trend on TikTok last month.
BBC, NYT, WaPo, CNN, WSJ, GQ all pumped out multiple fawning articles about influencers suddenly finding themselves at their "most Chinese time of their lives," and how Beijing’s cultural exports were winning hearts and minds.
But it's total crickets when Japanese and Americans voluntarily, joyfully, and directly bonded on X.
Why?
Because this lovefest is not anti-Western. It’s not anti-American. It’s not pro-authoritarian. It’s two free peoples with no pretensions looking at each other going "hey, you’re pretty cool actually.”
So the mainstream media doesn't really know how to cover something like that. Nor would they want to. It's not in their DNA. There is no point to score against America and particularly, the Americans they despise the most (the ones whose lifestyle the Japanese were super interested in). So there's no story there.
Anyway, if X can repeat this many times over in other countries - that would be huge. Great work @nikitabier

Numerous regular folks are used to being so emotionally charged (EDS) that it clouds their potential for cool logic. Result: ignorance regarding Musk’s pragmatic projections, even if timelines change…he’s getting shit done! Misinformed folks are missing out on the good vibes, and some are convinced that “pie in the sky” is a bad thing. If only more of us could be so ambitious and determined as Musk and his teams! Musk’s teams are often on the cusp of radically improving our essential tech on earth, and setting up orbiting master class, such as our imminent Starship “elevator” into earth orbit, and beyond. Sounds kinda trekky, but it’s a wonderful bold vision - a global kickstart! We get to witness an ever unfolding revolutionary mantra, with unprecedented positive impact from the top tier experts…who are full of human ingenuity, reiterating endlessly at pace. And if they love their work, all the better, but regardless, I am grateful for their collective efforts. That is a present and future I originally signed up for.
