I hacked together this Specter-DIY airgapped #bitcoin hardware wallet from @CryptoAdvance and here's how I did it with visuals๐ท

I started publishing Kern pre-release binaries for those willing to test and contribute bug reports and suggestions. No toolchain setup required!

For those building Kern, some breaking changes:
- ESP-IDF must be updated to v6.0
(Has optimizations regarding ESP32-P4 video processing and PPA hardware acceleration)
- Before flashing, be aware things stored in flash will be lost.
(Flash partitions' mapping changed to allow SD card updates, and support future devices with 16MB of flash)

Thank you @HRF and @Vinteum_org for creating this opportunity. Learned a lot by meeting Stepan, @SpecterDIY, @SeedSigner and our own @selfcustodykrux teams!

@NicolasDorier @nopara73 @DigitalGarage Yes I could see why you don't update the image anymore, but for the node service do you have a repo on GitHub for it by any chance?
English

@DIYbitcoin @nopara73 @DigitalGarage I am using it myself. I've made a new version I think a year ago, should work fine. It's low maintenance.
The main reason why I don't update the image more often is because the UTXO Set is now so big it is a PITA.

Iโve been happily working at @DigitalGarage since 2016, but weโll be parting ways at the end of this month. T-T
Back in 2016, I joined the talented DG Lab Blockchain team. (Miss you all, it was such a fun time ๐) It was there that, among many projects were created:
* BTCPay Server (you know already),
* NBXPlorer (UTXO tracker used by BTCpay and many Bitcoin businesses in the industry)
* Hack0 (BTCPay Server on rockpro64)
In 2019, DG became one of the first sponsors of the @BtcpayServer Foundation, alongside Square Crypto.
While the grant was not renewed, they let me 100% focus on BTCPay Server for YEARS, while I was still benefiting from the stability of being employed by a large corporation.
A few years ago, the team was restructured, and I found myself somewhat orphaned within the company, though still very much supported. Not a problem for a nerd like me.
Iโve been INCREDIBLY lucky to work at a company that has always supported my work on Bitcoin with no strings attached. Living the dream (and, at times, I was boasting about it!), but all good things have an end, and I was prepared for it! :)
My only regret is that while one of Digital Garage main business is Point of Sale in retail business, I couldn't get Bitcoin integration done there. (Maybe one day? my door will always be open for @DigitalGarage )
Thank a lot for all the support, all my time there has been incredibly fulfilling! Special thanks to all the Blockchain Team and Vincent.
Of course my work on NBXplorer and BTCPay Server will continue as always.
Note that I am not looking for any employment nor consulting mission in replacement.

Youโll get a vulnerable โtoyโ hardware wallet running on your own Pi Pico (RP2040) dev board and reconstruct a realistic exploit chain:
timing leak โ buffer over-read โ ret2win โ RCE
Want to try?
โข read the README
โข flash the binary to a Pi Pico
โข follow the labs
๐ Lab 3 โ post the next seed word in the comments
๐ Lab 4 โ post a proof video
โ ๏ธ Using AI or decompiling the binary = cheating ๐

Itโs 99% ready. The weekend was productive
โ hereโs a photo of the โbrainโ fully routed. Now I just need to confirm everything is correct, because each board test will cost me $250.

Silent Payments can be 1 of the best ways to improve privacy in Bitcoin
But scanning is resource intensive & attackers can slow it down even more๐ฌ
Nymius of @bitcoindevkit will explain the process, show how the attack works & review the libsecp256k1 PR trying to mitigate it๐
