I have seen more data now. I don’t think Joy News could have concluded that there were generation issues prior to the Akosombo fire. The grid reports actually showed that generation before the fire was sufficient to meet demand. The reference point is still peak demand. The Joy News analysis compared off-peak generation to peak demand. For example, on April 1, generation at peak was about 4,138 MW, which is very close to the forecast peak demand of about 4,300 MW. It was 3913 on March 1. The magnitude of the generation deficit prior to the Akosombo fire was therefore not as high as reported.
