@DanielTX51 @foxygames_uk Or comfortably, he may just wanna relax on his couch.

I agree at the time, it was cost-benefit because MS would have to pay more for the same deals due to their lower userbase. It was far better for them in theory to purchase Zenimax, as they believed the demand for their products would overthrow one's decision for PlayStation, or at the very least have in part.
The only reason it has benefitted us all, is because the play backfired and Xbox cannot handle the operating costs with the lack of revenue.
My concern is really with regulators that allows a platform to also purchase huge portions of established CRM without consumer guarantees. All established entities should be enforced to stay multiplatform.
Microsoft had the opportunity back in 2000 to hire and partner solely with DMA Design. If they did and grew GTA to what it is, then fair play. Today, if MS tries to buy TakeTwo/Rockstar because they now see the fruits of the labour, then no.

Phil Spencer spent $7 billion to prevent this from happening by the way.

@Dry417 @foxygames_uk From my understanding, Sony doesn't allow third-party content on their platform, so any mods that use assets not already in the game won't work.

Sony is automatically refunding Highguard microtransaction purchased on PS5 👀
Very consumer friendly move

As a reminder Starfield was coming to PS5, Microsoft bought them and made it exclusive, then had to explain to a judge why it did that, then decided to ditch exclusives to improve margins and now everything is as it was just with billions extra spent and maximum brand damage.

PS5 port. "We've always wanted to do it" 😂😭🥳

@Mark231183 @ethangach @xboxontop2026 Yes, but it's not like those decisions are made in a vacuum. Seeing as we don't know the reason behind those closures outside of some public statement, who's to say Zenimax would have made the same decisions, especially because they have considerably fewer resources?
English

@DanielTX51 @ethangach @xboxontop2026 Well it was microsoft that made the decision to shut them down 🤷♂️
English

@Mark231183 @ethangach @xboxontop2026 We have no idea what would have happened to Tango Gameworks or Arkane without Microsoft.
The games are now out on all systems, with the addition of being available on Game Pass.
English

@DanielTX51 @ethangach @xboxontop2026 Still the better outcome as the exclusivity period would have been much smaller and Tango and Arkane wouldn't have been killed
English

@Mark231183 @ethangach @xboxontop2026 Unless you have a crystal ball, you can't possibly know that and it shouldn't be held against anyone.
English

@DanielTX51 @ethangach @xboxontop2026 Additionally Tango and Arkane likely wouldn't have been shut down and a Hi-Fi Rush sequel may have been greenlit
English

@Mark231183 @ethangach @xboxontop2026 The exclusivity would have swapped, which I acknowledge would be damaging to fewer players as more people play on PlayStation, but it also would mean that those games would likely not be in Game Pass.
English

@DanielTX51 @ethangach @xboxontop2026 No, Zenimax staying independent would have been fruitful to gamers as it meant Hi-Fi Rush and Starfield would have released day one on PS5 with Starfield only having a 1 year PS5 exclusivity as opposed to a 2.5 year xbox exclusivity.
English

@GTAJJ_ @SoulEater923 @LumberjackRy I'll concede the time exclusivity point, and I don't want to defend Microsoft's position. In the end, MS made a cost-benefit analysis and bought Bethesda, and it seems that deal was fruitful for all parties.
English

Sony has always disclosed their timed deals in their marketing. The key thing here is that it's two entities fighting for their own benefits so no party can dictate the market space.
As we know, Sony has not affected Xbox's ability to compete in the space or interact with the publishers since they were able to buy them.
MS can work with Bethesda just like they have in the past. Ultimately, that means all parties are independent and cannot control.
The market were not paying Xbox much attention because they had lower numbers; and the reason Xbox had lower numbers is because of their low capacity to produce high quality on their own merit - that is the starting point.
It is why both Nintendo and Sony are thriving. Good ecosystems and software.

English

@GTAJJ_ @SoulEater923 @LumberjackRy The reality of the situation, as it was laid in front of them at that point in time, is that those previous two games didn't come out of exclusivity. Maybe Ms knew it was exclusive for a time period, maybe it was exclusive for longer. They bought Bethesda before that concluded.
English

@DanielTX51 @SoulEater923 @LumberjackRy The last two games before Starfield were timed. So no different here.
Sony did not purchase Bethesda to remove them from the open market.
Microsoft needs to create good games to make a good ecosystem which the market will attract to.
English

@ImaRealFerret @GTAJJ_ @LumberjackRy What he say to the public is very different from the reality of their decision process.

English

@GTAJJ_ @DanielTX51 @LumberjackRy Well according to Phil Psencer the deal was about delivering great exclusive games for xbox.
Of course thats all changed now but I highly doubt they bought the entirety of abk just to stop starfield being ps5 exclusive lol. That would be dumb af

English

@SoulEater923 @LumberjackRy The probability is high that it would have been a timed exclusive for PlayStation, or even a permanent exclusive to PlayStation. Both eventualities were not a risk Microsoft was willing to take. Ultimately, the deal worked out for everybody, gamers included.
English

@DanielTX51 @LumberjackRy Well timed exclusive, he spent so much money just to prevent a game from being a timed exclusive and in the end that's what it was, just a timed exclusive Xbox title.

@hotshot844 @pushsquare If you really want to get granular with it, technically anyone who develops something for Windows is not an end-user of Windows specifically, but an end-user of the Windows API.
English

@DanielTX51 @pushsquare An end user is the one who buys windows, not those that develop for it

@hotshot844 @pushsquare I'm English.
UK law also has IP laws.
You can love or hate Windows; that really doesn't matter to me. You can't sell software for the Windows OS that breaks the law, the EULA, and the Windows platform policy. That's it; there is nothing more to add. Those are the facts.
English

@DanielTX51 @pushsquare Your damn US laws don't apply to other countries, typical Amercian that thinks US dictates what others can or cant do, you clearly have never used windows, windows itself is malicious
English

@KanaSaber @BlackBurai Missing features? Does that happen sometimes?
The mod support thing is a real issue for me too. @Xbox, you guys need to get better with this.
English

@BlackBurai pro: xpa
con: bad mod support, game version often lagged or missing features like DLSS, horrible store and server
English

Why would you NOT buy it on steam 😂

I gotta funny feeling this game will not install ever.
