If there's one thing that drives me mad about New Who, it's the timeline. So I have spent more time necessary coming up with my understanding - and to a degree personal headcanon - for the order in which all of Series 1-13 happen So 2005-2022, a thread:

I've realised the easiest cop out of Wish World/Reality War for any incoming production company who wants to avoid the Billie Piper ending and the absolute mess that the final was, is just a time jump from here.

@Ben491109516347 Fair enough, I would prefer the finale just be waylaid personally though. Let it have consequences on reality but just not be the main timeline

@Danny_10477 Just have the Doctor wake up on the Tardis floo with no memory of what happened. All he knows is he is the Doctor and he can traverse time and space. He picks up a companion and they got on whacky adventures. That's it. No more continuity.

@anewman35 This is what I mean - it should stem from this moment. Rose stemmed from the TV Movie, we found that out years after to be fair but still. I think a new series should eventually stem from here

@Danny_10477 Why do people think this is so hard? Just start out like 'Rose'. New Doctor. New companion. Very vague mentions, if any, to anything that happened before. They can fill in the gaps in a couple of years, or said and somebody eventually will. Not a big deal.

Poppy is then a retroactive remnant of the destroyed reality. The Rani is alive in Anita Dobson who escapes the Reality War bubble universe. Belinda's character assassination can be redeemed. Then the Wilderness Years 2.0 can go and save the Master from the Gold Tooth

Just make the finale a seperate reality - the fallout of which causes the explosion of the TARDIS in 'Interstellar Song Contest'. Even in a Wilderness Years 2.0, using this as the 'main timeline' branch means we have an actual point to move from.

I'm yet to read the Endymion sequels to Hyperion - but I will say, Hyperion and Fall of is a beautiful peice of science fiction. And the Doomsday Book has started off really well
