Iovance Biotherapeutics TIL treatment, Amtagvi (lifileucel) is a one time treatment with a curative potential for one of the most deadly cancers in advanced melanoma. The one time treatment reduces downstream costs and saves millions or billions to the healthcare system especially if Amtagvi is approved in other deadly cancers like Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, soft tissue sarcomas, endometrial cancer and others. Immunotherapies like anti-PD-1/PD-L1, and CTLA-4 are great but the patients have to be on them for year if they can tolerate the terrible side effects. Granted some of the side effects are short lived but others can be life long. Amtagvi treatment is complex, and difficult but right now it’s the best. The company is working on making the treatment simpler and more effective with next generation TIL using core biopsy and treating patients in out patient setting with less toxic IL-2 or no IL-2 in the future.
