Today is Thank a Resident Day! We could not be more grateful to our #UVAPath trainees. The practice of medicine can be incredibly hard and heavy, but doing it alongside this fine group makes it fun, too. Grateful for each of them, every day.

Time for a new #DiagnoseThis! ⏰ What would you diagnose the patient with? Bonus points if you know the stain used.

@leon_metlay I would show it to the person who grossed the placenta. It could be a gross room stowaway, and your PA may be able to clarify if they cut another case with cartilage that day.

I'm faced with a #histology mystery. This is supposed to be umbilical cord from a 2nd trimester stillborn. Why is there macerated cartilage in the block too? X2 and X10 #PathTwitter #PathX #Pedipath

Large discordances between eGFR on the basis of creatinine or cystatin C are common in clinical practice. This study found when eGFRcr and eGFRcys are highly discordant, eGFRcr-cys is more accurate than eGFRcr or eGFRcys bit.ly/JASN0128 @FuEdouard

@LandonHobbs4 Seeing the little lizards running around outside were one of my favorite parts of visiting Florida as a kid! But I guess having them inside the house is a different story… 🦎 💜

@basophil_brett My husband thinks a “frozen” is a whole dead body that comes out of a freezer. I’ve tried to explain it, but he really likes his theory.
