Here's something I never noticed before & I bet no one else has either--especially since it's long gone. A hidden, slightly abstracted WED "D" complete w/star, hiding within the proscenium of 1967's Tomorrowland Stage. l think we can all guess who placed it. IMHO, more fun than hidden Mickeys!

@HistoryAtDisney This concept art is from a proposed remodel of the Grand Canyon Concourse that would have covered up the Mary Blair ceramic tile murals. Also the 4th floor has been called the Grand Canyon Concourse since opening day in 1971.

@NickChaps96 Now, get the lyrics to Star Tunnel’s predecessor, “Here’s to the Future,” penned by X Atencio to Buddy Baker’s music, (performed in Quadriphonic stereo). There were two versions, one for RCA, and another for a post-RCA world. It’s vintage 1975 in a bottle.

Did you know the Star Tunnel music you hear in the Space Mountain queue actually had lyrics at one point?

@krismeetsworld The building is a scaled down replica of the Merchants Hall in Freiburg, Germany that features four statues of Habsburg emperors and kings.

@UncleWalt1971 This is FALSE. Walt and Roy rented a space in the back of the Holly Vermont Realty office on Kingswell Ave in 1923 as the first home of the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio.

At Peevy’s Polar Pipeline in Echo Lake at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a fake door labeled "Holly Vermont Realty" features a window above advertising a loft for rent, symbolizing the modest apartment where Walt and Roy Disney first lived upon arriving in Hollywood in the 1920s. #DisneyHollywoodStudios

Production on this pic was so chaotic that it spanned over a decade, involving multiple directors and a shareholder revolt in 1984 that ousted CEO Ron Miller just before release, nearly ending Disney's animation division altogether. Despite its epic scope, the film features noticeable animation errors, such as inconsistent outlines around characters and awkward multiplane camera effects, because of budget overruns and rushed post-production. As bad as the movie is, Lloyd Alexander’s original book series is actually fantastic and I hope someone comes back around to try again. I highly recommend it.

@UncleWalt1971 This is FALSE. The monorail was never designed to travel through the center of the structure (there’s an elevator bank in the way) and it was always designed to be a separate structure so any vibrations from the train would not effect the hotel structure.

The Contemporary Resort's modular construction faced a critical engineering hurdle with the monorail integration: initially planned to run straight through the center of the A-frame atrium, vibrations from test runs caused the entire structure to shake uncontrollably, forcing engineers to reengineer the track three times before relocating it to one side and anchoring it directly to the ground instead of the building.

@UncleWalt1971 This is FALSE. While it was overloaded with guests and listed heavily, the Mark Twain has never veered off its guard rails.

On its inaugural official voyage shortly after Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955, the overloaded Mark Twain stern-wheeler (with over 500 guests aboard) veered off its underwater guard rail, got stuck in the muddy riverbank, and nearly capsized when passengers shifted to one side…prompting an immediate capacity limit of 300 that’s still enforced today.

Honored to have helped develop the Special Edition #Disneyland 70th Anniversary commemorative guide maps. Only available on July 17, 2025, they include a fold out map of Peter Ellenshaw’s unique 1954 aerial painting of Disneyland that Walt used on tv to introduce his Park.

@Cartarsauce That Mr Lincoln photo is actually in Walt’s real working office, which was the inspiration for the new show’s set. There are so many great reproductions of actual items from his working office… lots of details to discover!

@boss_angeles @boss_angeles Eddie- I believe both of your amazing images were accidentally reversed. I've flipped them below. Your upper floor image was taken looking north and your escalator photo was taken facing south.

Indelible memories. 15yrs old, 1974, too excited to sleep, I left the room to roam the dozing hotel in hopes of watching those magical monorails. Being virtually alone I felt like I lived there. PEAK WDW. Kodak Instamatic 104.

As a Disney Historian for over 33 years, I can say: Fact Check: TRUE And I'm 100% sure Walt would be Donald's right-hand man right now, not Elon. "But Joshua, where's your evidence?" Walt basically performed the same role for Nixon during his run for Senator of CA.
🔴 KNEON 🔴@Kneon

Walt would’ve LOVED a lot of what’s going down right now. He was a flag waving patriot. And he’d be over the moon about the prospect of us going to Mars and building robots. (Also: Walt Disney hated communists. This is well documented.)
