@Aelintari I feel somewhat the same, but, at 65, my race is not with humanity but with mortality.

Writing good sci-fi is a race against time. Must imagine a futuristic gadget and write about it just before it becomes reality.

@R_E_Treasure I would never. However, I do have stories I could relate to you regarding Mr. King, a mutually respected author/professor we shared, and on starting out writing, as well as one related to the local promotion of the book pictured above (1982 purchase price $20 😀).

@AShvartsman @BenYehudaPress 🙂They are a fine press, Alex, and BYP volumes grace my library. "We publish Judaism-as-it-is-becoming, not only Judaism-as-it-has-been." My own works tend to fall more in the latter. Their publications are "to my taste," but, as yet (x1)😉, mine have not proven to be to theirs.

How was your Shavuot? Our publicist was catching up on BYP backlist titles *and* forthcoming manuscripts, we certainly don't have a shortage of Torah books 😺 The book involving pirate ships and swordfighting was maybe a bit of a stretch.

Out today! @fluoritewitch is a superb talent. These are unsettling, sometimes harrowing journeys that lead always toward grace and strange beauty. I was so very lucky to publish some Ogawa stories during my tenure at @fandsf. I can't recommend this collection strongly enough.

@Aelintari Ah, Finegold's Law. (Sorry, Murphy). I can commiserate. The good news is, if the story is rejected, you can make the change and send it on to the next market; and if it is accepted, you can tweak it before publication.

Why do I always figure out a better way to phrase something AFTER hitting submit?

This is out in paperback now - would really appreciate any shout-out for this anthology! It does sometimes feels like endlessly rolling a boulder uphill, promoting World SF, and I'd dearly love to edit at least one more volume...
