@MattThomas63996 @DBGyt_ @rudys_rant Fever drafted Pissott b/c she's a 3-pt shooter. She's more of a finesse player, her natural spot is wing, like Lexi and Sophie. Vanslooten is a 4. She's a banger who rebounds and bodies up bigs. Fever decided the team needed more of that, that's all. Pissott will get her chance.

I saw your take on Vanslooten signing. Too early to see how it will pan out so I will hold out on judgment and give her the benefit of the doubt once she gets some practice time and learns the plays and routine of the other players on the team. However @rudys_rant made an excellent point, it is rather weird that the Fever could have picked up Vanslooten who was like 14 picks below Pissot, Pissot is 6'4" (Guard/Forward) and Slooten 6'3" (Forward), they are pretty much the same type and position along with only being 5 lbs difference (for those considering size). So the argument is after waiving Kimbrough, why not bring up Pissot who was already on a development player and bring in an actual big that could complement AB and relieve of minutes for her? Feel like that would have made more sense, right? Just picking your brain on this one, but I assume you considered Pissot being an untested Rookie part of the reasoning?

Short term the Vanslooten signing is a slight upgrade on KK/Dantas but probably not a signing that changes much this season. But the Fever have her reserved rights til 2030. If she reaches her potential she's a borderline starter level player on a long term minimum contract

@mercurialblonde @DBGyt_ Making the offense better is not going to win many more games for them, but they've got a chance to get much better if they improve their defense. In 2024, the Fever defense finished 11th (out of 12). Last year started out rough, but finished 7th overall. So this is a step back.

Steph White does not want to coach Caitlin Clark, that is very clear. She has an idea of a player she wants to coach that she's trying to mold Caitlin into. But even the "blessing in disguise" comment last year. Caitlin just gets in the way of what Steph wants to run

Genuine question: Why do teams remove players from the previous year’s roster when they enter the portal? If next year’s roster is already up, totally get it, but they were on last season’s team.

Or it's possible Johnson could be one the backup guards for POA defense, with a vet on the bench. Or a vet guard could get cut and Pissott might be on the bench for more size with 2 guards on the developmental roster. Your guess is as good as mine. But this is my prediction now.
