Disappointed to see local contractor removing a large proportion of the biomass (~40%) of a local walnut tree during bird breeding season, against Arboriculture Association code of practice. I hope a thorough nest check was done first so this is ‘just’ poor practice, not illegal.

Our constant source of laughter. When Alexander died, the silence was unbearable. F was only just talking. In time, he & Isabelle filled our house with giggles again. A new soundtrack, still missing a melody but a different joy. We miss her touch, her sound, how she made us feel.

Very sad news today - Keith Somerville @KSAfricaHack died yesterday after a short illness. His wisdom and experience will be greatly missed. He was a respected colleague, a valued friend and a brilliant writer. He will be very much missed by those lucky enough to have known him.

Our beautiful girl is currently being monitored in hospital with a tummy bug.She has PPA2 deficiency,a mitochondrial disease that can cause sudden cardiac death. It stole our 3 year old son in 2021. So far she seems stable and has stopped being sick. If you work for the NHS (1/2)

Tried the amazing Seeing AI app yesterday. Aimed at blind / partially sighted people, it gives a spoken summary of what a phone camera sees - general scenes, product descriptions via bar codes, reading cooking instructions etc. Only had a quick play but it seems very good.

These two together are unstoppable! 🥰 (I am a proud student supervised by one of them).
