@shawnkdowling Only if they booked an appointment last week. Yes some are open, but getting in can also be a barrier. A lot of my patients this weekend came to the ER because they could not see their GP till weeks into the new year.

@EMcomet Agree that this is thoughtful and good practice - but many family physicians are open throughout the holidays (except for stat days).

ER team, please remember that our patients cannot see their family docs for two weeks with the holidays. Please give a decent sick note and extended prescriptions so they don’t have to come back mid break. Decrease the pressure on our EDs for the next two weeks.

Slept wrong on my neck somehow and my kid kicked me in the spine all night. Safe to say my spine is broken and will never be fixed. Try your best not drive in my passenger side blind spot for the remainder of 2021 to mid 2022 because I can’t look there.

The emotional spectrum of this job is wild sometimes. Start with a cancer diagnosis in a young patient, walk out of the room, and immediately try to prevent a nude drunk patient from pulling a fully inflated catheter out of his penis in the middle of the hallway.
