Excited to see that my first TES article has been published 🥳 In this article, I focus on how we can use evidenced-informed principles to develop our pastoral practice. From Sweller's cognitive load theory to behavioural science, please do take a read & share. Thank you all 🙌🏾

Every teacher is a teacher of behaviour, habits and emotional regulation, so what are evidence-backed ways to do that? Here are five key ways to bring research into pastoral leadership, according to pastoral leader Mohamed Ibrahim tes.com/magazine/teach…

I'm unashamadely ambitious for my practice. I always want to get better at teaching. I want to be as good at teaching as it's possible to be. I'm obviously not there yet, and never will be. But i know that my best chance of getting better is by getting feedback like this.

I've been in school three days this week and been observed 8 times. Consistently received super-useful feedback, and very lucky to work in a school with a strong culture of low-stakes observations 💪💪

Summer Term 1. The term where exams, transition and planning for next year just morphs into one massive ball of confusion. Good luck to everyone and hope you have a successful term! 🙌🏾

83 of the 190 students in Year 11 in 2024 at Harris Tottenham came from families identified as disadvantaged. On average those disadvantaged or underestimated students gained a grade better than their peers in 4 out of 8 subjects.

But it just goes to show how schools are such a safe space for our learners and it is our jobs to create environments that are clear, consistent, predictable and safe for some our most dysregulated learners. They need to know that our reactions & routines will always be the same.

My favourite part of today? Having one of our learners who is really struggling at the moment tell us how much he loves the structure and routines of our school. He said he felt safe and that he wished that half-terms were only a day (?). Had to stop him on that last part!

School leaders working to turn around failing schools do one of the hardest jobs in education. It's astonishing really, as they "build the plane while flying it." That doesn't mean their decisions are unquestionable, but if you've never worked in that context you should show humility.

As a teacher with 15 yrs experience, I'm very happy with where I'm at with my job. However, the @Steplab_co documentary has shown me multiple ways I can improve instruction. An absolute game-changer for teachers that want to hone their craft.

Wish we could go back to the golden age of Edutwitter where teaching strategies were being shared all over the place and there was actual academic dialogue on how to become a better practitioner. Nowadays, you may find one gem a day across all of the bots, spam and prejudice

Sometimes I feel like posting something on here and then I'm always pre-traumatised by the bot responses and even worse, the inappropriate accounts engaging with the account. This is truly a study in how to ruin an app over night

'Shakespeare, Austen and Dickens are not just dusty relics of a bygone era; they are portals to empathy, to understanding the human condition, to developing the very skills that employers claim to crave.' Bravo @LawrenceEFoley. More of our students need to realise this.

Two things can be true. We do need to create more inclusive schol environments AND the level of accountability in society (including parenting) has declined. We need to be ready to have this conversation but I don't think we're quite there yet.
