Tomorrow, after 30 years teaching secondary English, I’m retiring.

@ToonFan14 I reckon it was 100% a penalty, players always put their body across the ball to stop defenders getting it. Defenders always do it and fall over at the first touch to get a free kick. That pen would be given every time in the PL.

One of the most jarring things about trying to talk about football on here.
People cannot speak honestly or without bias. And it’s tiresome.
Spence knew what he was doing. It wasn’t a natural movement. And it wasn’t a penalty. Opinions would be different if at the other end.

Bemusing that stepping across the defender and protecting the ball is not awarded as a foul now if the defender knocks you over from behind. I am so glad that this didn't impact the result. Outstanding bit of play from Spence!

It is also a category error. Just because expert scientists use inquiry, doesn't mean novice students should be taught by inquiry

A while back I wrote a blog based on @P_A_Kirschner where I argued that students are not- and should not be treated like- miniature scientists. My response to that Class Charts post. IYKYK: 💦💦💦
1. Student is told they can have a bottle of water.
2. Student takes two.
3. Student is asked to put it back.
4. Student runs away.
…and some are arguing this is not an example of disrespect?? 🫣

Let me get this straight, a kid took something that wasn't theirs to take and when challenged - instead of apologising and/or giving back the stolen item - ran away, as a result was punished and we're supposed to feel bad for the kid????

@HACKETTREF I disagree. The England players skill got him ahead of the defender and he has every right to place his foot where he wants. Initial decision was correct.

The England player manufactured contact and it was an act of simulation. Lucky to escape a yellow card.

Very disappointed of course
Couple of situations where I think we were not fair treated - ball hits wire before 1-1. VAR takes away a goal for us.
But ok. Not England’s fault.
They won the game.
And I congratulate all my English friends.
