@clhubes I will say it gets tremendously easier when the baby sleeps reliably. Mine are 6 and 3 and it's just been the last ~6 months that I've felt a little less drowned and a little more in control of my time. It's hard as hell, you're doing great!

Unless you were also up at 4 am with a 3-year-old calling you "Stupid Mommy" for failing to keep the motion sensors light on while she ate a strawberry Popsicle, I really don't want to talk to you today.

@polesasunder I like the tidytuesday project feederwatch data. I give it to my students late in the term and have them fly with it independently, but you could do a lot with it earlier in a course, too.

Hi Twitter! what's your favourite open ecological dataset for teaching? The data should be * clean-ish * on at least a few species * have two continuous things to relate to each other * "Ecological" Thinking of: penguins, Harvard forest data, mammal trait database

@AudreyComstock7 @Momademia It's so hard! I had the best luck when I stayed off my phone during the feedings etc. Something about the light of the screen really kept my brain on high gear when I tried to sleep again. It does get easier, you will sleep again someday!

I wanted to share some of my thoughts on today's Supreme Court decision on affirmative action:

@DigiNaturalist I can relate 1000% and I admit I never thought of having cake to celebrate! Definitely making that a thing from now on. It's a rough deal, keep being a badass!!

For all the folks who were raised by shitty/abusive dads, #FathersDay is for us too. But celebrating is bit more like fuck that guy and kudos to you for surviving and thriving in spite of them. Now I'm gonna eat some cake!

At the @Rockies game, everyone cheered when they got to the “from the mountains” part of God Bless America. My Midwestern friends, I feel like we need to make cheering for the “to the prairies” part a thing. Let’s do this!

This is the dumpster outside of a dorm, the garbage truck is right around the corner. All this stuff is usable condition. What are we doing?! Anybody's schools have good examples of swaps or donation systems for students moving out of the dorms?
