A bathroom habit that sent a man to the hospital. In Zhongshan, a man was rushed to the hospital after suffering a rectal prolapse a condition where part of the rectum slips out of the body. The cause wasn’t an accident. It was time. Doctors at the Hospital Affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University reported that the man had spent over 30 minutes sitting on the toilet, distracted by his phone. The prolonged effort and fixed position created excessive pressure, overwhelming the muscles meant to keep everything in place. He was treated urgently and is now recovering well. ⚠️ Medical experts are using this case as a warning: Spending long periods on the toilet ,especially while scrolling on your phone, can significantly increase pressure on the rectum and weaken pelvic muscles over time. What feels harmless can quietly turn dangerous. 📵 Sometimes the healthiest move… is putting the phone down.

if you are young and ambitious, the biggest mistake you can make is prioritizing cash and work life balance I moved out of home at age 15 and lived on welfare to graduate high school. my first job was founding engineer at a startup for $50k/yr. that startup was acquired by Canva and the learnings there changed my life. now I’m founding my own company in silicon valley cash at this stage won’t make a meaningful difference long-term. your skillset is an investment that compounds for the rest of your career. the only thing you should optimize is your learning velocity
Dev Shah@0xDevShah

if you are in your 20s, the biggest mistake you can make it working for a random ass yc company with a random ass founder offering 120k in sf to work 9-9-6. just lock-in and ship cool stuff, and you'll make way more.

When they move abroad as immigrants - they make friends based on visa categories. They don't even date below their visa categories. 😂 When they're on Twitter, the reiterate that stratification. small accounts vs big accounts. 💀 I reflect a lot on our ideological design, as a people. Nigerians are morally bankrupt, culturally deficient and rooted in faux elitism. This is why some markets exist for us, because they can take advantage of that shameless insecurity - and I genuinely don't think the reason is poverty. I've visited other poor countries. These countries do not see cars beyond what they are, a means a transportation. They don't see restaurants beyond what they are. They don't see dates beyond what they are. Something fundamentally is wrong with us. For us, it isn't even enough that we succeed - it is important that other fail, or don't succeed as much as we do. It is important for us to have an edge other others. It is such a sick attitude. Person A has one house. Person B has two houses. It isn't enough that they both have roof over their heads - Person B innately subclasses Person A. You should also to hear from a Nigerian gym goer that you're not "man enough" because you don't bench as much as he does. 💀 As segwayed as these analogies are, they are rooted in the same proportionality. It points to the same mental illness. Who did this to us?

Last night I watched a documentary about the US Moon missions. Thousands of engineers, scientists, mathematicians and entire universities working on one impossible goal of putting humans on the Moon. The level of ambition was almost frightening. Then I opened Nigerian news this morning. And it was the same depressing circus: Politicians defecting again. ADC de-recognized. Jos massacre. Another ethnic argument on TV. Every day is just noise. 220 million people… and our biggest national obsession is still politics and tribe. No moonshot. No grand scientific challenge. No national engineering ambition. Just endless distraction. Did Nigerians themselves lose the hunger for greatness? Because great nations argue about how to build the future. We argue about who insulted who yesterday. And that difference is why some countries are planning missions to the Moon… while others are still trapped in yesterday’s arguments.

“I’m the girl that posted about the hospital at Uwani about the light issu£s. Sadly, I have been given an indefinite suspension. And now ve been rem0ved from my clinical duties. Now I want to ask Nigerians: Did they do anything wr0ng? I never posted their video to bring the government down or to paint them b@d. Only did that to bring their attention to the issues, which luckily have been attended to. I am so br0ken Nigerians. I didn’t know that my goodness would be p¥nishing me so b@dly…” - A nurse at Uwani General Hospital who went viral for highlighting the poor conditions at the facility has been suspended indefinitely and removed from her clinical duties.

guys, i honestly do not like clowning on Gary. I don't find being the butt of a joke funny, so I imagine he does not either. But, this is what worries me about where we are going. We are actively encouraging an entire generation that the tech is there when its not, and a couple of silly mistakes made on a website isn't the end of the world, but people's data and breaches are serious. We are entering a very VERY hackable world, and I do not like it one bit.
gregorein@Gregorein

so... I audited Garry's website after he bragged about 37K LOC/day and a 72-day shipping streak. here's what 78,400 lines of AI slop code actually looks like in production. a single homepage load of garryslist.org downloads 6.42 MB across 169 requests. for a newsletter-blog-thingy. 1/9🧵

Tunde got a backend role at a fintech in Lagos. 6 months later, their system crashed during Black Friday. 50,000 transactions lost. The CTO asked one question: “who built this?” Everything Tunde didn’t learn cost the company millions. Don’t be Tunde. Here’s the full backend engineer roadmap

The problem with "street smart" people, no matter how much money they make, is they operate with a zero sum mentality, and will absolutely screw you over for a tiny amount of money Had a professional MMA fighter "order" me gloves for $300. Knew I was getting scammed and the gloves were probably $50, didn't care, knew he needed the money. He ghosted me after I cash apped him. Would have kept training with him forever. Big cold email guy in the space. Did a charge back. Had a mutual friend call him. He did it "just because he could" Will not call him out. Will not air the dirty laundry. Just move on and don't work with them again. You don't want to be in the bucket with those crabs. @EdLatimore and @Alexfeinberg really taught me this.
