It's hard to argue this point across when the majority of the fans these days don't know how good the story lines were back then. The irony of the the situation is we have more of a system now. That would cater to a system that would suit relegation.

LEC and LCS were unironically destroyed by franchising and leeches There's nothing interesting about watching random players compete. It's just pixels on the screen No Relegation removed the dream of making a team and making it. Now everything is controlled by coaches, managers and owners. There's also barely any players doing content anymore. In the past you had tons of players in various teams making daily content. Nowadays there's still some, but far less. League Of Legends was always a spectator sport. It was amazing and unique from real sports because of how close the fans were to the players. There were connections, and you'd know the players on a deeper level. Nowadays why would I watch LEC or LCS over LCK? Los Ratones unironically perfectly showcased all of the above.

Personally comparing Valorant to current day league isn't a fair comparison, I'd personally compare Valorant to Season 5 league as that's a comparable time frame from Launch date.
Are there other reasons? Probably, FPS games being a lot more popular in the west. Swinging things more in the wests favour for now.
But what we will most likely see is when the Western teams are being outworked that will make a compounding difference over the space of the next 8 years. Bringing it to the same timeframe as current day league.

I just started watching worlds again after a while of not watching league and why is LCK and LPL so much better than other regions? Is it more macro or micro wise difference or in general they are just much better?
