When it comes to elite ๐๐โพ๏ธ๐ฅ athletes that Fresno State has, under this current system of college athletics, we wonโt really be able to keep any or most of those guys & girls. This is why college athletics is broken. It was never intended for the G5/6 to be โthe little leaguesโ of D-1, the triple A, the farm team. The leaders of NCAA have failed the game we use to know.
I do believe that college athletics will eventually fix itself to a certain degree. Transfer restrictions will come back, I bet down the road a conference salary cap & harsh penalties will be apart of it. The NFL model.
So what do we do?
Itโs hard to speak from a University perspectiveโฆ thatโs not our lane & by all accounts our athletes like being here, theyโre treated well & itโs a good experience. I can tell you that I have seen so much work that is being put into our athletic department, from our AD, to the marketing/event organizer they work relentlessly.
From a fans perspective.. we have to do our part.. maybe we donโt keep Evan Williams, Jake Haener was in the portal for a timeโฆ Athletes like Gory etc etc until the structure, rules & guidelines changeโฆ but you know what we can do? The depth of our rosters.. the guys who arenโt getting 6 or 7 figure deals elsewhereโฆ we absolutely can have an impact on them.
Players leaving creates opportunity for others. They look at the fan engagement, do they feel appreciated? Is it a fan base that they want to represent? If we didnโt care why would they? Why would a depth player on the basketball team not take the same amount from some collective to go to another university/fan base that maybe creates a better environment? Itโs all about experiences for these playersโฆ theyโre 18-24 years oldโฆ
I just want to open our eyes a bit & make us all understand that we absolutely play a role in this.โฆ
the Green V section was created to bring this fan base juiceโฆ If itโs been tugging at you to get involved, we will welcome you, your family/friends with open arms. The GVS refuses to sit back & accept defeatโฆ. We are fighting in our lane for @FSAthletics.

Exactly broโฆ this is so much bigger than Fresno Stateโฆ this is about college athletics being completely broken. I understand that it benefits a lot of these young men. More power to them, there just has to be some structureโฆ if the NFL can have a salary cap, contracts then college football should also.

Fresno State freshman forward DeShawn Gory is entering the transfer portal, per his agent @SlashCEO. Gory averaged 13.7 PPG, 6.2 RPG and 2 APG over 32 games with the Bulldogs this season, earning Mountain West HM.

Anyone remember the noise meter back in the day at Selland Arena?
Hereโs an idea weโve come up with to bring the students back, hold them accountable & reward them for the support of the ๐ program. ๐โค๏ธ๐๐
Bring back an updated noise meter (with decimals)โฆ every time the ๐ team is on defense the noise meter records its readings. Take the average reading for the entire game & if that number exceeds THE BEST of the season the student section gets a prize.
Obviously the 1st game will be a winner, so maybe the prize is pizza, the second game might not be very tough, maybe itโs tickets to a concert at the SMCโฆ. By the time weโre 10+ games into the season, maybe itโs TVs or a PlayStationโฆ at the end of the season maybe itโs an all expense paid vacation to Hawaiiโฆ. Whatever we have to do to build this cultureโฆ ๐๐
Ofcourse none of this works without boots on the ground, on campus to make the students aware of what the expectations areโฆ The students need a goal & be held accountable (keep it ๐ฏ).
The GVS would love to be apart of spreading the word & become a direct pipeline from the student section to the Green V section.

Long post but bear with me! ๐ค๐ค
We want to make this publicly clear! The GVS will never take any profit.. thatโs not why weโre here. Whatever funds/donations that exceed our expenses will always be put back into the group & eventually have contributions to NIL.
We want @FSAthletics to see the vision we have, the good that weโre trying to create & to PROFIT off this movement themselves. In more ways than one.
This logo ๐๐ that we merged of two already trademarked images, we would LOVE the university at some point to trademark & produce merchandise so we could use what we think best fits our movement. We think it represents us, the university/valley very well.
We never expected anything to happen right away, we have to show who we are, that we would never do something that would shed a bad light on the university. That confidence needs time to develop & be understood. In the simplest terms, we need to follow the rules & we diligently keep that at the forefront of our group at every event we attend.
Everyone who has ever represented the university when it comes to the GVS has been nothing but class. From @Fpucher, @jakemastro, @AJohnson_30, Clarence Chiong & @KlassyDogs. The hours & hours of time you all have put in with us is greatly appreciated. We canโt THANK YOU all enough & we look forward to whatโs to come. โค๏ธ๐๐
