Laas Geel is among hundreds of caves along the Golis mountain ranges in Northern Somalia that show case the rich history of Cushitic civilisations—the founders of the first civilisations in the world; the Bronze Age civilisations. I know of dozens of similar caves in both Calmadow & Calmiskaat with paintings & unique artefacts. Sadly many of these caves, some of which are more valuable than Laas Geel, in eastern Golis (Calmiskaat) have been vandalised, stollen by terrorists (AS, ISIS) & are being destroyed by the ongoing recent bombings by UAE airforce. The rich archaeological history in the Golis range cave systems are gift from early Cushites (Puntites, Macrobians, Ati/Aten/Bin Aad etc.) to the humanity. Somalis, as one of descendant tribes of these early Cushites, were the custodians in the past couple of millennia & kept intact. Somaliland is merely the land of Somalis in a country called #Somalia. Needles to say USA has a responsibility to protect the cave systems in Eastern Golis (Calmiskaat) & their rich archeological history which are currently under bombardment.

Explored the stunning rock art at Laas Geel on Tuesday, cave paintings dating back thousands of years. Grateful for the opportunity to see this incredible piece of African history that showcases Somaliland's rich archaeological heritage.

Only Governments should have exclusive monopoly of firepower. Raw unbriddled obsession to Grab power through violence by non state actors must be tamed by superior firepower. The worst curse third world failed states endure are weak executives. HSM must rise up to the task of unifying Somalia. Nations are better preserved by Authoritarian benevolent rulers who maintain stability, territorial integrity & overall law & order instead of becoming failed States. Warlordism must have no place in a modern State. Bad Governance can always be corrected with time. The US is a classical case of poorly managed country but the opposition cannot just pick up arms.!!!

Somalia welcomes constructive partnerships with all international partners on maritime security, counterterrorism, and Red Sea stability. But true partnership must respect Somalia’s sovereignty, constitutional order, and territorial integrity. The narrative that Somalia can only contribute to regional security through fragmentation is historically false and strategically shortsighted. A stable, united Somalia is the strongest guarantor of long-term security across the Gulf of Aden and the Bab el-Mandeb corridor. Efforts that encourage secession may appear tactical in the short term, but they carry profound long-term risks for the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea, and international stability.

They declared that they believe in Somalia unity & have no relationship with Somaliland secessionists in Hargeiza. That Puntland government is in breach of both Puntland and SFG constitutions. They demanded immediate release of Daud Farah & to arrest the perpetrators.

Wrong or deliberately misleading. Somalia is a sovereign, independent country like USA. Bilateral relationships happen between 2 countries. #Puntland is #FMS of #Somalia just like #Taxes is in US. Thus any legitimate, healthy engagement goes thru #Mogadishu as always since 1960.
