@ralpha060461 Increasing the teams isn't a bad idea, it's where there from that's the problem. In 1970 Europe had 10/16 teams now they have 16/48 so Europe have been allocated only 6 out of the additional 32 places since. This is the main issue

When a team gets hammered 7-1 in a World Cup tournament you have to ask whether increasing the number of teams in the tournament was really a good idea

@ewansmithpr If we beat Morocco and Haiti take a point off them, their world ranking padding will be shown up for what it is. We don’t want a four way tie after game three as GD will be our weakness

@ewansmithpr That was Haiti’s cup final last night, they’ll get smashed in the next two games Hanley should/could have given away two pens and the big lad missed a free header to equalise The 1-0 result will cost us the best 3rd place

A £100k salary means you’re in the top 4% of earners in the UK. If £100k is still not enough, you’re living beyond your means. Agree or disagree?

Unpopluar opinion, Rode our luck in the wee small hours against minnows. As long as we ain't just got that to take hame from the USA. Time for Morrrocan '98 revenge troops. In mad way the Morocco game maybe suit us more, crazy.

I’m pleased Scotland won though I have no interest in football. But…why is there a bank holiday on Monday? I thought the match was at 2am tomorrow morning!

A draw on Friday against Morocco would guarantee Scotland's progress to the knockout stages. A win would guarantee a top two finish - as the group stage is decided on head-to-head. Even two defeats, to Morocco and Brazil, by a combined margin of three goals or fewer, would still give a strong chance of progression as one of the eight best third-place spots (this is decided on goal difference) Our potential last 32 ties, including opponents, venue, date, and when we'd have confirmation of the fixture:

Tomorrow Scotland gets a bank holiday after their first appearance at the World Cup since 1990. In 2022, Wales went to the World Cup after their last appearance in 1958. Wales played their first match on a Monday. We had the same monarch. Wales didn’t get a bank holiday.

The flagshaggers have sullied our national flag. When I see a George Cross I think, there lives a racist fuckwit, not a genuine football fan or a proud Englishman, I just see a racist. It’s very sad but we all feel it and now we won’t fly our flags. #WorldCup

@Willq72v @Coach_Swales @rawespresso So instead of saying pay more NI /tax to get a better state pension the answer is scrap it? Seems like a great deal for the private pension sector. Who'd have thought that eh?

@FireflyBiilym @Coach_Swales @rawespresso The issue isn’t that the government wants to take it away, the issue is that it’s a genuine Ponzi scheme and is economically unsustainable with a declining birth rate.

The median UK adult aged 55 has roughly £62,000 saved in their pension. Many have nothing. To retire on the PLSA's 'moderate' single-person standard — £31,300 a year — you need a pot of around £500,000-£600,000 on top of the state pension. The median 55-year-old in this country is roughly 90% short. Ten years from state pension age, on £62K, with the cost of food, energy and rent still climbing, the maths quietly stops working. The state pension at £230 a week will close part of the gap and leave the rest wide open. This is the cliff most working UK adults are walking towards while telling themselves there's still time.

@DazzaDavies @ITVSport WORST world cup TV show ever and I've seen them all since '70. From a useless backdrop of a financial district? Sally McCoist waffling about politics, some American woman talking to us like kids, terrible picture quality and the biased English panel from hell

What are ITV thinking with having a referee on who’s explaining things like none us have ever watched a game of football before. What a stupid addition.

Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley very strong on scenes in Belfast: "I was watching a bit of the news last night, and I can't remember what channel it was, but a journalist was talking about 'these protesters.' "I thought, that isn't a protest. People are setting fire to cars. That's not a protest. That's violent disorder, that's criminality. I really feel for Northern Ireland colleagues who are wrestling with that. It's really, really difficult. "We live in these volatile times and, some of what goes on online whips up, sentiment on the street. "We know that Russian state actors, Iranian state actors, they want to sow discord on the streets of the UK. So this is a really complex issue we're wrestling with. So you've got very polarised debates in the UK, and you've got other people overseas who want to drive wedge issues to create disorder, and you've got the great men and women of Police Service Northern Ireland on the streets in the middle of that, trying to sort of protect people and stop people burning down houses and things. It's awful."
