A total change of tempo for my new post. My friends know that I love my music and despite having a lot of digital music, my greatest enjoyment is listening to my vinyl collection and I've gone back to buying vinyl whenever possible for a new album purchase. I have a 43 year old Technics SL-QX200 Quartz Direct Drive turntable. It's downside is that it is a p mount cartridge and audiophile replacement cartridges simply don't exist for this format. It has served me well, is still working but could do with a good overhaul which I simply don't have time to do myself. Therefore, I began researching for a medium priced replacement. I went through the usual suspects such as Rega, Pro-ject, Audio Technica and Technics. During my research a brand called Fluance (@Fluance ) kept coming up, especially for reviews across the pond. To keep a longer story short, in terms of quality vs value for money, their range topping Fluance RT85, with its incredibly good @Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge and hefty acrylic platter just bowled me over. It's ordered and I'm eagerly awaiting delivery on 12th February. I'll be like a child with new toy!
