Kirby isn’t more or less effective against LHH or RHH. His splits are roughly equal. Giving Stanton and McMahon days off today makes sense for different reasons. Stanton needs to be managed carefully to try and keep him healthy. McMahon is lost right now and needs to reset. I know Boone is obsessed with having a L/R balance to the lineup, but I don’t think that’s so important that we should let Goldschmidt hit ahead of Jazz. Or even Wells. Hitting Goldschmidt 5th against a RHP is the exact reason I didn’t want him back. I didn’t even want the Yankees to have the option to do something like that.
