@PostNASA Africa is closer to the middle whereas South America is way off to the side so it's distorted way more. The right side of Africa is probably just as distorted but you can't tell because it's just continuous land.

@PostNASA South America looks further away then it should because the field of view causes the Pacific Ocean in the center to appear to balloon or jet out more causing everything else to look further apart.

Everything highlighted should be shown in the NASA photo but much of South America is missing.
