In my capacity as the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Election Campaign Council for the 2026 Re-election of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji of Ekiti State, I attended a meeting last night with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in company of my governor at the State House, Abuja. Focus of the meeting was to brief Mr President on the Council's preparedness and its ongoing workplan ahead of the kick-off of our campaign in coming days. Let me reiterate that the Campaign Council is committed to ensuring an overwhelming victory for Governor Oyebanji in the election scheduled for Saturday June 20th, 2026; as we target victory in all the 177 wards of the state with not less than 500,000 votes. Governor Oyebanji's victory in the coming election which will be made possible by his track records in office over the last three years will no doubt lay a solid ground for a far more resounding victory for President Tinubu in the January 2027 Presidential Election.

Mastercard Foundation, IDH Partner Ekiti to Deepen Cassava Value Chain Development The Ekiti State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing a secure and enabling environment for agribusiness investors, as the Mastercard Foundation and IDH Netherlands visited the state’s Special Agro-Processing Zone (SAPZ) to assess progress in cassava value chain development. The Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade, gave the assurance during the visit, describing the organisations as critical partners in the state’s drive to boost agricultural productivity and economic growth. Boluwade said the government would continue to support investors and ensure adequate security for farming communities to enhance sustainable agribusiness operations. He added that the state was also prioritising support for programme participants, particularly young women, through the provision of mechanisation services aimed at improving productivity and efficiency. The assessment tour took the delegation to Itapaji and Iyemero Ekiti in Ikole Local Government Area, where youths participating in the Mastercard Foundation-funded WISE programme turned out in large numbers to receive the visitors. The delegation included the Country Director of Mastercard Foundation in Nigeria, Ms. Rose Fynn, and the Global Director of IDH Netherlands, Mr. Kebba Coiley. They inspected project sites at Promise Point Farm in Itapaji and FMS Farms Ltd in Iyemero. Speaking during the visit, Fynn commended the participating youths for their commitment and performance, noting that their level of engagement was encouraging. In the same vein, Coiley expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the programme and the positive feedback from beneficiaries. The WISE (Women in Sourcing Enterprise) programme is designed to create employment opportunities for youths, especially women aged between 18 and 35, within the cassava value chain. No fewer than 7,500 beneficiaries are currently participating in the programme through four partner organisations in the state: FMS Farms Ltd, Promise Point Farm, ABAAS and Value Ingredients Ltd. Funded by the Mastercard Foundation and implemented by IDH, the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to promote inclusive and sustainable agricultural development in the state. IDH, an international organisation established in 2008 in the Netherlands, partners with public and private sector stakeholders to develop sustainable agricultural markets, improve smallholder livelihoods and promote fair working conditions.

Ekiti Govt Approves 50% Tractorization Subsidy for Farmers The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved a 50 per cent subsidy on tractorization services for farmers as part of measures to enhance agricultural productivity in the 2026 planting season. The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Ebenezer Boluwade, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti, noting that the subsidy covers ploughing, harrowing and ridging of farmlands across the state. According to him, following the council’s approval, farmers will now pay ₦45,000 per hectare for ploughing, instead of the ₦90,000 market rate, while harrowing and ridging will cost ₦32,500 per hectare each, down from ₦65,000. Boluwade explained that the slight increase in prices compared to last year was due to rising diesel costs, attributed to ongoing global tensions involving Iran and the US/Israel, adding that prices may be reviewed downward if fuel costs decline. He outlined conditions for participation in the programme, including a maximum of five hectares per farmer and verification by ministry engineers to ensure the land has not been tractorized within the last 12 months. The Commissioner added that payment by farmers will only be made after confirmation that the land is suitable for tractorization, assuring that service providers are expected to mobilize to project sites within 48 hours of payment. He urged interested farmers to contact designated numbers based on their senatorial districts: Ekiti South (0706-826-2309, 0803-487-9106), Ekiti Central (0806-8497008, 0806-232-5044) and Ekiti North (0803-565-6550, 0803-489-2651). Boluwade added that, ” this is the fourth time the State Government will be subsidising the Tractorization Support Scheme for farmers in the State. ”The Scheme started in 2023 and it has captured so many farmers and improved productivity among the small holder farmers.The list of approved Mechanisation Service Providers allocated to every farmstead has been circulated widely within the state.” .
