@IanDunt He literally registered this week. Only way to explain why he was evasive over the weekend.

Sunak: "I am registered with an NHS GP" but has "used independent healthcare in the past". Kind of makes you wonder why he made such a fuss over it before.

@NicholasTyrone Agreed, we need the political equivalent of the hypocratic oath when MPs get sworn in!

Not surprised that early reports on the anti-strike legislation describe it as a complete mess. My biggest fear, as ever with this government, is not just the conscious harm they wish to inflict but the unconscious as well. Damage done by incompetence.

Useful link within the article that shows you just how much your MP is raking in while not focusing on their constituency work. Here’s our MP, McVey whose main job seems to be for GB news.

@TonyClewes Thing is, if there are a small minority of people in the UKwith far right views, then there should be a small minority of far right MPs. That's democracy. Right now the far right have massive influence over the tory party who would be far more moderate otherwise.

It doesn't matter what the PM said at the homeless shelter, it's the fact that someone in his team thought a man worth £730m giving a homeless person a plate of sausages and eggs would be good PR.

@Roxanne_Mashari @GordonBrown The biggest problem with local government is being a local Councillor is a low paid job, only really doable by retired people or those with other income sources. Reduce the numbers, make it a full time properly paid position and we'll get far more talented, diverse candidates.

@GordonBrown Corruption can exist at local authority level too. The missing part in this plan is reform of local institutions to make them more accountable, representative and transparent. Devolution needs to be more than devolving power from one man in Whitehall to one man in a locality.

12 years of Tory rule has made the UK the most regionally unequal economy in Europe. To build prosperity and tackle poverty across the whole UK, we need to change not just who governs but how we are governed. We need genuine political reform. [THREAD]

@paulisci "Children; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. They no longer rise when elders enter the room, they contradict their parents and tyrannize their teachers. Children are now tyrants.” Socrates c470BC

@RichardBurgon Private schools are not charities, the services they provide aren’t primarily for public benefit, they’re for the benefit of those who can afford them. Yes, some offer bursaries but that’s no different to thousands of businesses with corporate social responsibility strategie

Scrapping tax breaks for private schools would raise £1.7 BILLION Labour would scrap these tax breaks and use the funds to recruit 6,500 more teachers. That will help tackle the huge inequality that exists in our education system. No wonder the Daily Mail is up in arms over it!

Here's a graph that makes you think. The number of people over 65 in the world is set to double to 1.4bn by 2043 - how will these people be cared for and what will they need? A proper UK industrial strategy would be thinking about this.

This is big! Labour members just overwhelmingly backed PR 👏👏 Great news - a real sea change! Yet @Keir_Starmer has his fingers in his ears. People are crying out for fresh, progressive politics where votes count & voices are heard. And it’s coming, whether leaders agree or not

Electoral reform is the precondition of the most important constitutional changes we need in our country. It is the foundation upon we can build a moderate, consensual, evidence-based system from the ruins of pathological know-nothing machismo. There's no more important fight.
