No, sorry. You’re going to die. Very soon actually, in the grand scheme of things. You have several decades at most. In 70 or 80 years, tops, nobody reading these words right now will be alive. Most will not even be remembered. This fact is so terrifying to some people that they live every second in denial, clinging to the insane hope that somehow “science” will come along and rescue them from mortality. Even if it could — which it definitely can’t — then what? You live to watch all of your friends and loved ones die and even their tombstones decay while you linger on, trembling in fear and grasping desperately onto a life that, no matter how long it lasts, you’ve already wasted? And then you get to see the Earth decay around you and the Sun burn out ? Wow. Sounds like a lot of fun. But no thanks. I don’t need to live for a million years. I just want the time I have, however long or short, to be meaningful.

@DR_BEATS_KICK I'd go farther. No tree should be cut down to build a parking lot. Parking spaces should mandatorily be the first floors (a parking garage) under the building/mall. Solar panels on all rooftops, and covering most highways. Parking lots are cities' ugly wounds.

The health consciousness stuff has gone massively overboard. People walking around with bands tracking their vital signs every second of the day like they’re astronauts on the ISS. Treating alcohol or sugar like it’ll kill them if they look at it. Tracking their sleep. Counting their steps. It’s possible to live a healthy life without being an obsessive, paranoid lunatic. You’re gonna die either way. In a few decades you’ll be just as dead as the rest of us, if not sooner. Relax a little and live your life while you still can.

People keep asking "what jobs will AI destroy?" Wrong question. Instead, ask what a brilliant 14-year-old in West Virginia can now do that he could never do before. Previously all his relatives went into the mine bc that was the only door open to them. He was largely doomed because of where he was born. A kid growing up in that same holler today can build an AI company from his bedroom. Think about what that actually means for opportunity in America. The Doomers are wrong. These new tools will make the system more meritocratic, more democratized, and more distributed than ever before.

That's what happened to elevator attendants, people working in toll booths or workers who lit the street lanterns before electricity.

@dbaxbt @JordanSchachtel Doing what? Using AI? I’m now a small two person office, we run two desks. I am using AI and some automation. That’s not the issue. This issue is, for example, if 80% of white collar jobs are gone in 18 months, who are my clients? Where are the job orders?
