Last night we had the chance to cheer on Tyler Martin, the son of fallen Houston Police Officer Richard Martin, as he played baseball for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in what was his final game in the Houston area. Tyler had a strong group in the stands supporting him, including retired Captain Paul Follis, retired Lt. Rebecca Follis, HPOU Vice President Tim Whitaker, HPOU Executive Director Ray Hunt, and Tyler’s sister Cynthia. It was a great night of baseball and a good reminder that the families of our fallen heroes remain part of our law enforcement family. We were proud to be there supporting Tyler. 💙⚾🇺🇸

Today at @RODEOHOUSTON's Armed Forces Appreciation Day, the Houston Police Officers’ Union had the honor of presenting one of our challenge coins to 102-year-old World War II veteran Chester “Buck” Sloan of Houston. Buck landed in Normandy just days after D-Day and fought across Europe with the 2nd Infantry Division carrying a Browning Automatic Rifle. During the war he captured around 30 German soldiers, survived being wounded by a grenade during the Battle of the Bulge, and was awarded the Purple Heart and the French Legion of Honor. It was a real privilege for our officers to shake his hand and thank him for his service. Men like Buck are part of the Greatest Generation and the reason we get to enjoy the freedoms we have today. God bless Buck Sloan and God bless America. 🇺🇸

Houston Police Officers’ Union President Doug Griffith and HPOU Executive Director Ray Hunt have both announced their personal support for Jessica Steinmann in the race for Congress in Texas’ 8th District. Doug and Ray have spent decades standing up for law enforcement officers and public safety in our region. After meeting with Jessica and discussing the issues that matter most to police officers and our families, they believe she understands the challenges facing our communities and the importance of supporting those who serve. Voters in District 8 are encouraged to learn more about her campaign and where she stands on the issues impacting public safety. Follow Jessica on X, @jhartsteinmann.

You certainly love to perform for the cameras…comical you would put this out… Considering during your time in Congress you actively opposed and sabotaged the “Protect and Serve Act” which would have been a “tool” to allow federal prosecutors to take cases where police officers were assaulted, shot, stabbed, murdered out of the local rogue DA’s hands.
Chip Roy@chiproytx

Nearly one Houstonian EVERY 10 DAYS is murdered by a repeat felon released back onto the streets. That is unacceptable in Texas. We must use and expand every tool available to remove recalcitrant DAs and keep violent criminals off our streets.

Honored to cast my vote today for @joanhuffman in the Republican primary for Texas Attorney General. She is someone who supports law enforcement in word and deed. Unlike @chiproytx who spent his time in Congress actively blocking the “Protect and Serve Act” which would make assaulting officers a federal crime…while simultaneously yelling into the microphone he “backs the blue”.

"Texas Republican voters have four qualified candidates to choose from in the race for Attorney General. Among them, Joan Huffman stands out as clearly the most qualified — in fact, no candidate in recent memory has brought such an exceptional combination of experience, leadership, and proven results to this office. Her career began with 15 years as a felony prosecutor in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. She then won election — and reelection — as a criminal district court judge, serving on the bench with distinction. After stepping away to raise her son, she answered the call again when a State Senate seat opened in her district. She won that seat and has served with honor in the Texas Senate since 2008. During her Senate tenure, Senator Huffman has chaired the powerful Senate Finance Committee, as well as the State Affairs, Redistricting, and Jurisprudence committees. She also served as Vice-Chair of the Criminal Justice Committee, where she consistently passed strong pro-victim and pro-law enforcement legislation. Beyond her unmatched resume, Joan Huffman has earned widespread respect as one of the most effective and influential senators in Texas through her character, temperament, steady leadership, and ability to get results. When it comes to superior qualifications and readiness to serve as Texas’s top law enforcement officer, Joan Huffman is in a class of her own. That is why we — the presidents of Texas’ largest police associations and unions, representing nearly 100,000 peace officers across the state — proudly endorse Joan Huffman for Attorney General. We stand together with Colonel Steve McCraw (immediate past Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety), Joe Gamaldi (National Vice- President of the Fraternal Order of Police), and many other law enforcement leaders in calling on voters to choose this once-in-a-generation candidate."
