Are Slavs genetically descended from Scythians? I tested this directly using ancient DNA. Short answer: not really. The Scythian/Sarmatian samples are useful controls, but they do not look like the main source of Slavic ancestry.

It just happened that later, Europeans learned heavily from Greek civilization and culture through the ancient Greeks themselves, in multiple stages, from Greeks influencing ancient Rome to East Romans (Graeco-Romans) bringing Greek texts to Italy and teaching Italians. The Eastern world did not become Greek just because Alexander conquered it, and in many cases it rejected Greek things, unlike modern Europe that embraced Greek (and Roman) civilization

It's interesting how many people idolize Rome these days, eagerly awaiting the "next Julius Caesar" and drawing comparisons to America or Trump. However, the reality is that Caesar marked the beginning of Rome's decline, not its peak. He is responsible for the burning of the Library of Alexandria—the hub of Hellenistic knowledge and culture—yet hardly anyone questions why he did that, why he aligned himself with 'Middle Eastern' allies like Antipater the Idumaean (Edomite), or his reasons for waging war against Indo-European peoples in general. We're all captivated by Rome's grandeur through cool sculptures and Hollywood's glamorized take on its history, so much so that we're missing the broader picture. Not understanding our history better is what's going to doom us to repeat the same mistakes... This is all to say, that maybe America does share many parallels with Rome, but that's not necessarily a good thing.

@Haljj_ The Roman Anatolian admixture that you are referring to is itself Mycenaean admixed, however even If it wouldn't be, it is from the same genetical and cultural substrate and Part of the Greek ethnogenesis since ancient times.

I will never get the stupidity of people who think that modern Greeks whose Main genetic difference to ancient Greeks is that they have an additional 5-30% Slavic Input (depending on the Region) are somehow darker than ancient Greeks.
