With God Almighty Everything is Possible

Lagos’ problems were not imported from Onitsha or Aba, they were engineered by decades of weak planning, elite greed, and political complicity. Let’s deal in facts, not tribal hysteria. Before Lekki existed, Lagos was already struggling with drainage and zoning failures. Reports from the 1950s–80s warned about uncontrolled expansion in Mushin, Surulere, and Yaba. That’s not “Igbo mentality” but institutional neglect. Also, Lekki’s flooding isn’t a cultural flaw. It’s an ecological and governance disaster. People built on wetlands because permits were sold, regulations ignored, and political patronage replaced environmental science. Every illegal structure passed through an office, not a tribe. In addition, we need to stop this myth of “drug money development.” Lekki’s real estate boom was fueled by oil-era capital, political connections, and diaspora remittances - not narcotics. Crime in Nigeria has no ethnic monopoly. Corruption doesn’t speak Igbo, Yoruba, or Hausa. To context, Lagos is, and has always been a city of migrants. From Awori founders to Benin warriors, Brazilian returnees, and modern entrepreneurs. Its genius is its diversity. To claim ownership through ancestry is to betray its spirit. History shows: societies collapse not because of difference, but because of the weaponization of difference. This is how Rwanda burned. How Germany turned on its neighbors. When we tribalize governance failure, we invite moral decay. Lagos doesn’t need “ethnic cleansing by bulldozer.” It needs environmental justice, transparent governance, and urban intelligence. Cities thrive on law and fairness - not hate and fear. You must remember that a city is not a tribe. It is a covenant, and once we forget that, we turn from builders into barbarians.

100 years, and not a stain on his name. That alone is the tribute worth paying to the leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti. When the mantle of Afenifere fell to him, it came at a difficult time: a fragmented house, a country in flux, and a Yoruba political tradition that needed someone unbought to hold the centre. Baba held it firmly. Despite the personal trials that have come his way, and the political seasons that have tested every one of us, he has remained upright through it all. As he joins the league of centenarians today, my family and I pray that the Almighty keep him with us for many more years in good health and sound mind. Happy Birthday, Baba!

@Omojuwa Nothing like self-indicting here if I am to say. He intentionally post this to tell the world that Liberalism means MUMU. I blame our Yoruba leaders that allowed nonsense like this. Will the Hausa allowed anyone to take away their right in Kano or Kaduna?

This is the reason many states do not allow non-indigenes to get into elective offices. You were lucky enough to win an election in a region different from your place of origin. When it was time to send people abroad for training the names on your list was 95% non-indigenes. Na wa o.
