@Leophilius @darwintojesus Saying your disbelief in God is totally unrelated to anything else you believe is something you can do but nobody with a rational mind will believe you.

@darwintojesus You didn't make an argument. You just made the opposite claim. And I did show how atheism isn't a belief system. Here: Atheism is disbelief in the proposition “God exists”. Disbelief is merely a doxastic attitude on a proposition. Doxastic attitudes aren't belief systems.

"I don't like using comments made when people are minors." If only you'd stopped there. "My opponents used old social media posts, so now I can. My opponents lied, so now I can. My opponents are monsters, so now I can do anything." That's the road to becoming evil yourself.
Pradheep J. Shanker, M.D.@neoavatara

1. I don't like using comments made when people are minors. 2. The political left, including this woman, wouldn't be so reserved if the target was a conservative. So.. Full speed ahead. These are the rules liberals chose... Let them live with it.

@wswann @Aiism_Priest @darwintojesus Too many people are wrapped in the "prove God exists with physical evidence" debate, its a terrible spot to be stuck in. I came back to Christianity a few years ago and its definitely a complicated subject, but life experience convinced me before the message did.

The number 1 thing atheists simply cannot understand is this: If you change the foundation of reality, you change reality. You can’t change how and why everything is here and expect for nothing else to change. Our understanding of morality, meaning, science, personhood, choice, design, beauty, rationality, etc…. All of it. All of it changes.

@wswann @Aiism_Priest @darwintojesus This is about the limit of my knowledge of this theological debate. I've seen it argued that if God is the arbitar of what is and isn't moral than how can humans judge and question that. That is what the Isrealites did and it didn't go well for them.

Smoking is cool, it has always been cool and will always be cool. You shouldn't smoke because it's absolutely horrible for you. It's why we all quit, but it doesn't change the fact that it's cool. Caveat: It is extremely uncool if you're fat. It just makes you look like an out of control animal with no self control and you look like you're going to drop dead. Gotta pick one poison at the most.

@wswann @Aiism_Priest @darwintojesus The neighboring tribes were objectively evil, child sacrificing and without their removal they would corrupt God's people which seems to have been the case.

@wswann @Aiism_Priest @darwintojesus Nations have waged war before Christianity and without Christianity so that doesn't really point to any flaw within it. In the old testament the Isrealites were told to completely destroy neighboring tribes, something they didn't exactly carry out as told in the Bible.

@Aiism_Priest @darwintojesus Your perception is built on the foundation of Christianity which has done the most work to remove things like slavery and genocide from humanity. You assume that without Christianity this and more would have been done because rationality or something.

That's already part of your perception. Imagine there is a Creator that doesn't care about humans. Perhaps the universe is like a terrarium to them and they like the beauty of the cosmic order. Your foundations stay the same yet there is no Abrahamic God. The foundations could stay the same without any Creator at all. It might be difficult to imagine, but there is no law that humans have to have the ability to imagine everything. These perceptions influence how society and humans operate, but we are not changing the foundations of reality itself. Reality functions the same way no matter how we attempt to analyze it.

I have some quibbles about the way Trevor wrote this, but the people mocking it fundamentally don’t understand their own sin, or they would understand what it means to be cleansed of it.
Trevor Sheatz@TrevorSheatz

My wife was formerly promiscuous. I was a virgin. She was then radically born-again. Committed to church, evangelized constantly, Puritan books in her bedroom, prayer journals, grief over past sexual sin, etc. We got to know each other well for over a year, dated for four months, engaged for two and a half, and didn't sin sexually with one another. Our first kiss with each other was at the altar on our wedding day (reaction pic attached!). We've been married for over five years now, and she's been the most wonderful and godly wife, mother to our three children, and homemaker you could imagine. She's more pure than most virgins, as biblical purity has less to with past sins (though they certainly matter) and more to do with one's current posture of the heart and daily decisions to honor the Lord (Matt. 5:8). We're far too quick to forget the story of the woman labeled as a known "sinner" (likely a prostitute) in Luke 7:36-50 who was washing Jesus' feet with her tears while kissing them too. The Pharisees were shocked that Jesus let a public sinner do this. Jesus responded with a parable about debts being forgiven and ended with this powerful conclusion: "Her many sins have been forgiven; that’s why she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little, loves little" (Luke 7:47). Everyone seems to highlight the benefits of virginity, and it certainly is a blessing. But we forget to highlight the benefits of being forgiven much as well. My wife knows the depths of Jesus' forgiveness more than most people, enabling her to more easily live out a life of passionate love for her Savior. A woman or man's past sexual sin matters. But what matters far more when it comes to deciding who to marry is if the person is truly born again, if their repentance is real, if they truly have a heart for Christ, if they truly follow Jesus and obey his commands. "God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong. God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world — what is viewed as nothing — to bring to nothing what is viewed as something, so that no one may boast in his presence. It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us — our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, — in order that, as it is written: 'Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.'" (1 Cor. 1:27-31) "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!" (2 Cor. 5:17)

@Chopsmath @Babygravy9 I think most car seats are stamped for 5 years. Kid outgrows it in a year or two and you can't even sell or donate it because "it may have been in an accident". $200, $300 car seat is trash because of these paper pushers.

@Johny5911 @joeroganhq Fluid intelligence? Sometimes they're smart and sometimes not. All I'm asking is for you to prove human consciousness and so far the best you come up with is you need to have a brain to be conscious, which isn't evidence. Its not evidence because you cannot prove you are

@Johny5911 @joeroganhq You made those claims and now you're trying to shift the burden of proof to me. That tactic may work on others but not me, so let's see the evidence to your claims.

I don’t need to prove that nothing happens, that’s not how it works, you didn’t understand the last comment? 😀 there’s no evidence that consciousness exists without a brain.. and we have plenty of scientific evidences showing it depends on one. On the other hand, we have zero evidences there is something after, so, give me something, you have to know something that science missed. What actual evidence is there for consciousness without a brain? And do you believe in ghosts and crystal bowls too?

You keep saying “they saw something” like that means anything. People see things when their brain is stressed, sleeping, or shutting down. You discovered hallucinations and called it the afterlife 😀 And near death is not death, buddy…near death is life. A brain that’s alive produces experience, what a shocker. Without a brain, nothing is happening. Btw. you’re the smart one here obviously and yet, you’re asking me to prove there’s no invisible dragon in my room. You’re the one making the claim, lmao, you prove it😂😂
