@Hardhatvol No. No he couldn’t. Tell me which legitimate contender he would have started for this year.
With NIL now, rosters are loaded. Especially the top teams. He will come off the bench if he wants to win a championship.
English

Lots of talk about the players leaving the men’s team.. Carey, JP, Evans, Boz..
Good and likable players but here is the reality of the situation:
Not a single one of these players will start for a National Championship caliber team. Come off the bench and help the team, maybe. But they are absolutely not a starter for a NC contender.
Barns knows that. If these players were to return and be starters which with the current roster, they would have been, then we would not have had a legit shot at winning a title. Barnes and the Vols are ready to breathru. Now. It’s gonna require better players.
Only player that has a high enough ceiling in my opinion is Evans. Gonna miss him but again, it will be another year or two for him to be that guy.

@MJGood4three @snye7869 @ESPNLunardi Yeah but also some of the teams that schedule nobody should be rewarded either..... auburn still needs a win or two to get in but the below 500 conference record take is garbage....
English

@snye7869 @ESPNLunardi Metrics are overused in this situation. No team with a below .500 record in conference and 14 plus overall losses deserves to be in March Madness as an at large. It ruins what makes the tournament great.

I remember being in school the same time as @wesruckerTBA and I always enjoyed his @UTKDailyBeacon articles. Never met him, but based on following him, I know he was a great man and truly loved covering the VOLS. I have been sick since hearing the news. My heart goes out to his

7-3 Mizzou, 7-3 Tennessee, and 7-3 Texas are all ranked SEC teams despite having a combined total of 1 quality win (Texas over OU)
Meanwhile, 7-3 Louisville and 7-3 SMU are unranked ACC teams despite EACH having as many quality wins (both over #13 Miami) as those 3 SEC teams COMBINED
WHY IT MATTERS: The Committee stated Miami is not in the same tier of comparison as 8-2 Notre Dame (and therefore, also not in the tier with 8-2 Alabama and 8-2 Oklahoma) because of Miami having “2 UNRANKED LOSSES.”
By labeling Louisville and SMU as “unranked” teams, Miami is artificially ejected from comparison with 3 other 2-loss teams who Miami SHOULD be compared with.
Now, why would the @CFBPlayoff Committee do this? Well, consider if Miami WAS compared to those teams.
Notre Dame: Miami won head-to-head.
Alabama: Lost by 14 to a 5-5 unranked, bottom-5 ACC team who Miami BEAT in the same venue.
Oklahoma: Dominated 23-6 by a 7-3 team. Remember, Miami “isn’t in this tier” because of a 3-point loss to a 7-3 team and an OT loss to another 7-3 team.
You see? If SMU and Louisville received the same “(S)p(EC)ial” treatment as Mizzou, Tennessee, and Texas, Miami’s “horrible unranked losses” would disappear and Miami would have an argument to be ranked ahead of ALL THREE of Notre Dame, Alabama, and Oklahoma.
And the SEC ESPN Committee couldn’t have that. Not from an ACC team.
So the Committee creates its own self-fulfilling circle of logic to artificially inflate the rankings of SEC teams Alabama and Oklahoma, as well as ratings-whale Notre Dame, while artificially driving Miami’s ranking down to keep @CanesFootball and @theACC out of the picture. @ACCFootball is getting absolutely HOSED once again.
End the Crooked Committee. Abolish this terrible system. @NCAA @NCAAFootball
eSECpn@eSECpn
While all the SEC fans are crying that Alabama is rightfully behind Notre Dame. I would love for one of them to take the time to please explain to me what on this schedule would make Missouri ranked. #SECbias

@chabaud_joseph @Doug_1ey @ESPNInsights The point is the team that beats JMU looking at the conference wouldn't get autobid over duke.
That being said duke isn't winning the ACC so it won't matter
English

@Hardhatvol @Doug_1ey @ESPNInsights What is the point of this question? Yes JMU losing is possible but the point we are trying to tell you is that if Duke wins the conference, there’s a good chance that two group of five teams make the playoffs over Duke
