Last few days spent crop walking in România. Such a joy to swap the wet standstill of DK to look at nice flowering OSR, w wheat almost at flag leaf and spring barley in full tillering.

@Hpdamgaard @FredVLarsen @Stu_macNZ Standard practice here is to strip till precision plant at 100,000 seeds/ha,aiming for a final plant count of 70-75000 plants/ha. That’s about 9.2kg/ha.Strip till by contractor =$520/ha,I can use my CrossSlot drill for 35% of that. I direct harvest with a Zurn Premium Flow header

@mikeonthehills @FredVLarsen @Stu_macNZ Interesting test. What is your seeding rate ? Here in 🇷🇴 we plant all sunflowers on 76cm, but weed control and soil protections, this seems a very interesting Thank you for sharing.

@FredVLarsen Beautiful! About waist height now, seed singulation near perfect. A few below-canopy late plants though (see portrait pic). Next year I might take @Stu_macNZ advice & increase seeding rate to increase competition and even plants up= easier harvest

🎇🌱 Last field visit for 2023. A year full of challenges,l due to drought ☀️ conditions in SE 🇷🇴. Crop 23/24 started significantly better with good autumn 🌧️ and high temperatures means the plants still developing. We are positive for a better year to come🙏🏽 Happy New Year 🎇🍾

🇷🇴 ❄️ 🌧️ After two very dry years, we appreciate the moisture our autumn crops have received the last months. They are off to a good start 🌾 🌱

Wheat 🌾 going in directly after the combines 🌽 This is second year very dry, so it affects our yields significantly, we hope for rain 🌧️ 🌧️ 🙏🏽🙏🏽

@Hpdamgaard @GeezaColeman Looks like it’s doing a great job. Any idea on how many false triggers are occurring? I would recommend alternating travel direction with each pass for a superior end result.

@fredweisg We are running the 36” and we’re actually advised to run 30” as the flow of grains through combine is the limitation. Combines are made to receive grain and straw in the same. We have to run fast to avoid header losses - too fast, loss will be from the cleaning - not header

@Hpdamgaard When we used the 42’ in the logged wheat and durum, the shelbourne rep from England was there, we tried every rotor and hood setting but we had about 75 to 150 percent more loss than Macdon heads on the other machines with us, but in the 120 bu wheat we were able to go twice fast

@fredweisg Honestly, we do not see any difference between stripperheads and when we trashed all with the straw through the combine. Only some varieties have some header losses. For us it was more a struggle to set the combine correctly. Here we had some losses until we found the right way.

@Hpdamgaard So how much more header loss are you seeing and what amount you feel it is.. that wheat is standing well, but some years that don’t work out
