Dr. Angelica Nogueira Rodrigues is taking a powerful leap for #UterineCancerAwarenessMonth as a leader, researcher, and advocate for change. A Medical Oncologist, Chair of the IGCS Uterine Cancer Awareness Month Campaign, and founder of the Brazilian Gynecologic Oncology Group and EVA Group, Dr. Nogueira is internationally recognized for driving progress in Latin America and beyond. 🔬 Her contributions to the study of molecular characterization of endometrial cancer are helping to pave the way for novel therapies, offering new hope for patients everywhere. Through her research and leadership, she’s working to implement international guidelines and improve standards of care across the region. Dr. Slomovitz is the co-chair of the IGCS Uterine Cancer Awareness Month Campaign. He has dedicated his career to advancing the field of #GynCancer and providing compassionate patient care. He is a national and global principal investigator on numerous clinical trials related to endometrial cancer, including trials investigating immunotherapy and chemotherapy combinations. #ClinicalResearch like his is happening worldwide - this is very exciting news for women and any person who may one day be affected by womb cancer. This research advances personalize care based on molecular subtypes and shapes new approaches to treatment sequencing— such as bringing immunotherapy earlier. Dr. Ahmad Shuib, a gynecologic cancer specialist from Malaysia, took a moment during a short festive holiday in the Cameron Highlands Tea Village to join the global call to action and #Jump4June — raising awareness for Uterine Cancer Awareness Month. “As a gynae-oncologist, I find endometrial cancer is on the rise. Early detection, reduction of modifiable risk factors, and equal access to expert surgical care are very important,” he says. Even a small amount could be a sign of uterine cancer—see your doctor. 📅 Your period is a vital sign. Irregular, heavy, or postmenopausal bleeding can signal a problem—don’t ignore it. ⚖️ Hormones affect more than fertility. Imbalances from PCOS, obesity, or excess estrogen can raise uterine cancer risk. 💊 Thinking about Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)? Talk to a menopause specialist and stay in touch with your doctor for safe, informed care. Education leads to early detection. Many women dismiss changes in their cycles because they were never taught what’s normal versus abnormal. We need to talk about these issues openly, without shame. The Radiation Oncology team at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, USA took the #Jump4June Challenge to raise awareness for Uterine Cancer Awareness Month! This incredible group of providers, nurses, therapists, and staff is highlighting the vital role radiation plays in cancer care. Submitted by Dr. Kevin Albuquerque @GynRadonc Radiation therapy is often used after surgery to destroy any remaining cancer cells—helping reduce the risk of recurrence and improve outcomes for patients. Brachytherapy is often used for gynecologic cancers, which involves placing radioactive seeds or wires directly into or near the tumor to deliver a concentrated dose of radiation. This is sometimes called internal radiation and this allows for precise targeting of the cancerous tissue while minimizing exposure to healthy surrounding areas.
