🌍 Day 2 at #COP16: Celebrating Indigenous and Women’s Leadership in Biodiversity & Climate Action From rights-based conservation to territorial governance and direct financial access, today was filled with inspiring conversations led by Indigenous and local women as well as Indigenous leaders from Brazil and Colombia. Here’s what stood out: Women’s Voices on Rights-Based Conservation: Indigenous, Afro-descendant, and pastoralist women shared their critical work in conserving biodiversity. With insights from WiGSA, @rightsresources, and @iied, the discussion spotlighted how direct funding and gender equity are essential to advancing climate and conservation goals on the ground. Governance and Women’s Leadership in the Amazon: Amazonian Indigenous women showcased their role in managing biodiversity and protecting lands through innovative governance practices. Their leadership and strategies strengthen local resilience while safeguarding the planet’s biodiversity.
