For decades, dependence on fossil fuels meant dependence on volatility. In past oil shocks, countries had little choice but to absorb the pain.  Now they have an exit ramp: Homegrown renewable energy has never been cheaper, more accessible, or more scalable. The resources of the clean energy era cannot be blockaded or weaponized. There are no price spikes for sunlight & no embargoes on the wind.   The fastest path to energy security, economic & national security is clear: Speed up a just transition away from fossil fuels & toward renewable energy.

Climate action is indisputably in every nation’s self-interest. More affordable and secure energy & food. Far less pollution and better health. Clean cooling as extreme heat gets worse. More jobs. #COP31 will be vital to spread those benefits to far more people everywhere.

The Paris Agreement is the world’s shared framework to combat climate change and limit global temperature rise. At COP30 in Brazil, 194 countries representing billions of people reaffirmed their commitment to this vision and resolved to go further, faster, together.

Renewable energy is the engine that can drive a just & equitable transition away from fossil fuels. The roadmap is clear: we must triple global renewable capacity by 2030. A clean energy future is within reach.

2025 is the third hottest year on record, as this new @CopernicusECMWF data shows. The climate crisis is not a future problem—it's a now crisis. 2026 is the year we urgently need to pick up the pace of bold #climateaction.

The clean energy transition is unstoppable. The COP30 decision to develop a Just Transition Mechanism is a critical step towards making just transitions a central part of #climateaction. This will help bring real-world benefits to billions more people, in all parts of the world.

Addressing #IRENA16A, @UN Secretary-General @antonioguterres expressed his deep appreciation to @IRENA for its leadership in advancing just #energy transition. The Secretary-General echoes the Agency's call to expand & modernise grid infrastructure through increased investments, making it fit for a #reneweables-based energy future.
