Spain proposes a unified European army as NATO is close to breaking point. Technically, if you look at the NATO and European Union relationship - The assured security to Europe means they never thought of investing heavily in military, while countries like Russia, the US, China and India did.

@EvaVlaar This is the weakest 'Europe' after second world war. Europe needs to complete overhaul of its leadership and bring those who think with Europe-first mindset. x.com/IndiaReflector…
Geopolitical Monitor by TIRF@IndiaReflector

In my opinion - Europe needs a complete overhaul of leadership, especially those in the European Union and its Parliament. At a time when the countries are increasingly moving towards nation-first, Europe lacks ambition, and courage to speak with EU first mindset. NATO needs to be abandoned. it has mostly served US strategic interests while making EU complacent about its own security. They spend money, close to $500bn annually in NATO and despite this, they are weakened. Investing such amount in Europe-centric security would have made them major powerhouse. They see Russia as enemy (historically) and this is the only justification for being in NATO, under US security umbrella. The leaders like Ursula Von Der Leyen in EU, and Mark Ruth in NATO are weak and turning into liabilities. Despite this, Europe was getting cheap energy from Russia. US enters the scene and blows the Nord stream in Ukraine war, and they simply watch, and then buy more gas and energy from the US. Now in West Asia war - Europe is completely absent despite its energy security threatened again. And here, Ursula says - "the question is how can we reduce the demand... because the least expensive energy is the energy that is not used.... we are looking at energy efficiency...." The problem is EU's mindset - you threatened our energy, we will reduce the demand. Reducing the energy demand is the biggest indicator hold the horses of growth.

Islamabad Talks was a big deal despite not finding any solution to the US-Iran war. This talk showed 'cold coffee' and 'free food' is a big deal in Pakistan and is associated with status symbol in society. Journalists in green-blue pizzamans were seen discussing free cold coffee more than the outcome and possible impact of the US-Iran peace negotiations. The talks failed, but Pakistani journalists failed first!

Italy's Meloni has so far avoided proactively commenting in Iran war. This is a principled and measured approach. She will support US - but not Trump She will oppose Iran in general - but not actively in this war due to its nature.

This 40 mins talks- as NDTV reports is good enough for a detailed discussion on most critical issues - And at this point nothing is more critical than finding an exit from the Iran war - from the US perspective. A negotiation either at Delhi or Geneva - you are right Plus - India is exploring energy options where of course Trump would have pitched US oil - So India is going to buy Trump's sweet oil.

40 minutes - Trump literally did this? The agenda must be serious - Assessing India's position on entering the West Asia war game? India buying more oil and energy from US Sanctions on Iran - India's support? Dealing with China from US perspective Trade deal even if remains imp - may not be the hottest topic right now

Ladies and Gentleman - US is promoting this nonsense in India - Trump banners in Autos with tag line - 'Happy Birthday America' This is happening at a time when anti-US sentiment in India is all time high due to Trump administration's reckless approach to bilateral relations, mocking of Indians in the US and pro-Pakistan posture. - picture shared by Ambassador Sergio Gor @USAmbIndia

This probably means that Trump himself is coming to Pakistan. Seems like a pre-emptive call to Modi before a possible trip to Islamabad. If that happens, a peace deal would likely be agreed in-principle even before his arrival. And Trump definitely would want to announce that himself.

Received a call from my friend President Donald Trump. We reviewed the substantial progress achieved in our bilateral cooperation in various sectors. We are committed to further strengthening our Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership in all areas. We also discussed the situation in West Asia and stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure. @POTUS @realDonaldTrump

India-Bangladesh relations are on the mend, but India should not be complacent. The Siliguri corridor or chicken's neck remains a critical point - and this is the time to widen this neck or find a permanent solution to this.
