Why AI writing feels so fu*king fake: LLMs are trained on internet writing. So much of that writing is copywriting - PERSUASIVE sales copy designed to get you to buy shit. So ChatGPT & Claude have basically been trained by salespeople. They think every single sentence needs to SELL you on the idea. That's why everything sounds overcooked. And why it can't just say the thing without making it sound like a grand revelation. It's literally doing what it was taught to do - pitch. I love using AI for writing (used it to write this post) but the second someone reads your post and smell AI, they will check out. Doesn't matter how smart the idea was. So if you're writing with AI, here's how to make it actually sound like you wrote it: - Read it out loud. If you wouldn't say it to a friend over a drink, rewrite it - Cut anything that sounds dramatic for no reason. Just say the thing - Add YOUR weird shit. Your slang, your humour, little scrappy-ness-es (the stuff AI can't replicate) - If a sentence feels like it's trying to impress you by being overly "profound", delete it
