Portland Trail Blazers End of Season Awards:
Yang Hansen — The "What If" Award
In the 2025 NBA Draft, Cronin became Dr. Frankenstein, and Hansen is his greatest mad scientist experiment
We all knew Hansen would, at best, be a year away from being a real NBA player, but this year proved to be a huge challenge on the court
The best things we can say about Hansen right now have an "if" tied to them. "What if" he can knock down 3s (he was 5/42 on the season)? "What if" he can become more mobile? "What if" he can learn where to be on defense?
But there were other "ifs" aside from those, like "what if" we took Cedric Coward? "What if" we took Carter Bryant? "What if" we traded back with New Orleans?
This franchise won't give up on Hansen after one season, and nor should they, but ultimately, this year was a disappointing one, even given the low bar we set to give him time to acclimate to an entirely new country and language
Next year, the hourglass turns over and the clock starts on Hansen's NBA career. "What if" he breaks out and proves the entire country wrong...?
I would love nothing more than that, but he's got a long, long way to go to get there
Victor Wembanyama:
“It was good, it was fun, but Portland is a pretty straightforward team..
Stephon Castle:
“It will be similar to, but not as straight forward as Portland..
Thoughts on these guys calling Portland "Straight forward" ? 👇

This snippet from the end of Cronin’s press conference has me really thinking about what sort of deal he (supposedly) was close to taking but passed up on
The clues are:
- Would’ve sent Portland into Tax, close to first apron (~$7-8mil)
- Would have saved other team “a bunch” of money
- Portland would have received a “nice young asset”
- Dundon would’ve had to write a check for $20 million (lines up with first clue, $7mil over tax is roughly $20mil penalty)
Any guesses on what he may be talking about?
A proposed ban on foie gras in Portland is drawing passionate debate, with dozens of people weighing in on both the ethical and economic impacts of the practice. katu.com/news/local/foi…
Another “fee” aka tax proposal for Portland. Democrats have never found a tax they didn’t like. Then they complain about “affordability” like it’s not their fault… 😵💫😵💫
If approved, single-family homes would pay $12 per month, apartment units would be charged $8.40 each, and commercial properties would pay $61 monthly.
Trail Blazers potential team with Giannis Antetokounmpo:

Top ___ team in the Western Conference 🤔⁉️
@KGWNews Just effing NO! The public has no business funding this. The city can't manage the money and programs they already have. The venue and the team are responsible.
@KATUNews The moda center benefits the entire metro area , not just Portland.
I personally would rather my tax dollars go to an economic boost than enabling addicts from all over the country.
Portland Mayor Keith Wilson made his pitch to fork over more than $400 million of the city’s tax dollars to renovate and maintain Moda Center over the next two decades. katu.com/sports/trail-b…
This would cover the city's portion of the expected $600-million facelift to Moda.
People living in Portland’s eastern quadrant are bracing for another loss: the Grocery Outlet on NE Sandy Blvd. is set to close: bit.ly/48om6oK
We spoke with people who say losing grocery stores has already forced them to travel farther for basic necessities.
Portland City Council members soon will consider a proposal to use unspent housing funds to buy down low-income housing owners’ mortgage debt in an effort to lower rents and fill vacant units. katu.com/news/local/por…
Portland's City Council is expected to weigh new fees to help fund PBOT & road maintenance. If passed, this will be added to an already mounting number of taxes and fees Portlanders are already paying for. katu.com/news/local/mon…
