So I found myself talking to this guy the other day that was recently divorced. And I asked him, I said, " Do you think you'll ever get married again?" He said, hell no. I asked him, why? Here's some fun early Monero history - in 2014 / 2015 there weren't a lot of donations to cover Monero costs, so core contributors would pay for them out of pocket. We tracked all of this on a spreadsheet (that we still have) because we figured one day we'd be able to get it back from the dev fund - although we never ended up doing that😅 In total I spent well over $100k on Monero development until the FFS and donations made it more self-sufficient towards the end of 2015. What did this pay for? It included things like making Monero work on Windows (via msys2 / mingw), building out the entire FFS (which eventually became the CCS), all the work on the first GUI, lots of early cryptography work, all the initial embedded DB work (Monero loaded the entire blockchain into RAM until the beginning of 2015!), the work on MRL-0001 / MRL-0004 / MRL-0005, and Monero's 0MQ integration. Monero is only where it is today because of the sacrifices and early financial contributions of people like othe, NoodleDoodle, as well as the tireless (and unpaid!) efforts of people like smooth, David Latapie, moneromooo, WarpTangent, luigi1111, binaryFate, and countless others I've failed to mention.

Fritzl told his wife, Rosemarie, that Elisabeth had run away to join a sect. He forced Elisabeth to write letters from the basement to support the story. In that basement, without windows, ventilation, or medical care, Elisabeth gave birth to seven children. Three grew up locked there with her, never seeing daylight. Three others were taken upstairs, left at the door with notes, and raised by Rosemarie as grandchildren. One baby died a few days after birth, and Fritzl cremated the body inside the house. The truth came out in 2008 when one of the children became seriously ill and had to be taken to the hospital. It was the first time Elisabeth had been outside since 1984. Doctors alerted the police. Fritzl was arrested that same day and confessed two days later. In 2009, he was sentenced to life in prison. Elisabeth and her surviving children were given new identities and have lived under protection ever since. Elisabeth was 18 when she was locked in that basement. She was 42 when she saw daylight again.

@anousvd_anous @creepydotorg She was probably kind of naiive and submissive, never really set foot or wasn't allowed to enter his workshop in the basement and never questioned his tinkering. Austrian rural mentality is a weird thing to say the least, people are often very close minded.

The only thing preventing me from selling all my XMR right now is the regret minimization framework. I would feel very bad if it went to a gazillion dollars, a lot more than I would feel bad if it went to 0. I am most likely not putting a dime into Monero going forward. It's the second quarter of 2026, FCMP++ is stuck in some sort of limbo with ever increasing demands for money for god knows what honestly at this point. Wouldn't be surprised if this Justin guy is paid off by the firms that will be auditing this code(again for the 3rd time or whatever.) Monero is ridiculously quantum vulnerable and I see nothing being suggested whatsoever, Kayaba made the post and nobody cares. I honestly don't know how it would even be possible to migrate current outputs to a new Monero chain. Kayaba's proposal seems to suggest a brand new protocol with a brand new token which is of no value to current Monero investors such as myself. Monero is not a theoretical concept, it is a real thing. Your lofty descriptions of this flawless private currency that "scales to the whole world because of the adaptive blocksize" is NOT a real thing. What you describe is a fantasy it is not Monero. Cake Wallet's LN implementation is remarkable, I don't see any reason to pay with XMR over paying with this. Overall everything just kind of sucks. We got flipped by ZCash and gained nothing from the privacy narrative. Two hacks and forced injection of funds into Monero we are at $320. We did not break the last BTC/XMR top of 2022, nor did we set a higher bottom(in November 2024 we traded at 2016 exchange rates). Most people seem kind of gone and the Monero twitter seems to again be filled with bots like it was in 2023.

Yet X happily condones porn, spam AI bots, and endless evil/useless accounts. Why punish a tool of freedom while platforming endless crap? Reinstate @xmrbazaar ! Like and share so @elonmusk is forced to tell us why X is working to hurt the growth of the most successful p2p crypto marketplace for legal goods and services. Expose the hypocrisy! Elon please fix this.

@AloisSchmalzl Dass der Staat mit der Einführung von Steuern auf unrealisierte Gewinne in gewisser Weise "Zugriff" auf dein Bitcoin Vermögen hat, wenn auch nur indirekt, kann sicher als Problem gewertet werden. Mit KYC gekaufte Moneros machen die Sache übrigens nicht besser.

@IsFinkle Ein Problem wobei? Meine Sats ⚡ sind auf meinem privaten Wallet und von da kann ich sie hin bewegen wo ich mag. Hätten wir bei Gold nicht genau da DAS PROBLEM. Für alles andere Monero (würdest du sagen 😉)
